Per an agreement with underwater strobe manufacturer Ikelite, Aquatica has announced that their housings will soon be available with the Ikelite ICS strobe bulkhead and hot shoe attachment.
As a result, Aquatica owners will be able to utilize Ikelite’s new iTTL adapter for Nikon dSLR cameras with compatible Ikelite strobes. Contact Aquatica for more details.

Comment(s):Finally, a step away from the legacy of the Nikonos connector. Maybe it will finally go away, regardless of whether you want TTL or not.
Posted by scorpio_fish on 04/16 at 09:12 AMBut you can still use the iTTL adapter with a nikonos attachment to the bulkhead. What will the benefit be to have an Ike bulkhead?
Posted by LChan on 04/16 at 04:49 PMIf you use the Ikelite iTTL adapter you have to get a Y cable that is Ike to Ike this cable you can then use with or with out the iTTL adapter, whereas if you have a Nikonos bulkhead then you would need different cable if you wanted to forfeit the adapter, it also standarize you equipment to one type of connector and that in the field is priceless. Also, some folks have better faith in the Ikelite design than the Nikonos and in the end, you, as a customer, should have this choice available.
Posted by Viz'art on 04/17 at 07:52 AMThe Nikonos connector is just crappy. It’s hard to align without good light. Someday you will ram it in their wrong. It also collects water like a nice well, so you need to remove the cord while housing is upside down. The Ikelite connector is solid, reliable, easy to know you’ve got it right. Life would easier if everyone made it the standard instead of a connector that originated with the now antique Nikonos camera.
If you are starting new or previously owned an Ikelite housing, you want this connector.
