PRESS RELEASE
JANUARY 2006

Fantasea Line Releases the F350D Housing for Canon Rebel XT/350D Digital Camera

Fantasea Line, distributor of the world’s most popular and affordable underwater photographic products, announces the release of the F350D waterproof camera housing for the Digital Canon Rebel XT/350D. The Fantasea F350D is a compact, lightweight, injection molded polycarbonate housing with ergonomically designed handles, making it easy to hold and use. The F350D’s interchangeable port system accommodates a wide variety of SLR lenses, allowing photographers to capture the widest variety of superior underwater images.

The Fantasea F350D is more than just an underwater camera housing since it provides protection for the Canon Rebel XT/350D against damage from rain, snow, dust, sand and dirt. It is a valuable tool for many commercial, industrial, and medical applications, because it is resistant to most liquids and sprays.

The F350D housing features a unique o-ring and gasket seal and is rated to a depth of 200 feet (60m). The main seal between front and back halves is a compression gasket. The ports are sealed when mounted by a radial O-ring. The Canon Rebel XT/350D “slides” into the F350D housing on a specially designed tray. Once inside the housing the stainless steel latching buckles on the back door are snapped shut, sealing the system with a sound watertight seal. The housing controls use stainless steel shafts and springs and are sealed by double O-rings. The control knobs and buttons are made of molded polycarbonate. The F350D flash sync port is a six-pin type TTL connector.

  1. This could be just what we were looking for - An affordable housing for our 350D that we have not been able to get wet yet!  Cheers, Simon

  2. I should have added ‘compact’ to that last post as all the others we have looked at have been huge.

  3. Maybe you shouldn’t have added “affordable”. US$1000 is anything but affordable for an amateur. And the 350D is clearly for amateurs.

  6. ok thanks.

It was visible when I posted my second comment, it isn’t anymore.

I just visited your website, I’m in awe at your underwater shots. Very impressive.

  7. Well it could easily be argued that nothing about underwater photography is ‘affordable’. However this housing is more ‘affordable’ than most.

  8. You’re right.

The pricetag is still too high for me though.

Are there any other models for the EOS 350D?
I was thinking of buying a second-hand housing, but since this one has just been released it’s not available on the second-hand market yet.

  9. I personally have not seen any cheaper than this one, although there maybe some more out there that I don’t know about.  I think the next one up pricewise would be the Ikelite (at least from what I’ve seen) and that’s $1300 + the port which could may be nearly another $200.  That’s of course US prices - we always pay a bit more in Europe.

  10. For an SLR housing the price is excellent. Will be interested in comments re “usability “ of the housing
