  2. Truly awesome footage.  Do you know what lenses he was using out there?

  3. ‘Dean in Hall comment shocker!!!’… Was okay, bit wobbly at the start… Be nice to see it in its full rez . IMHO :-)

  4. I will say average
perhaps in full rez is good
and remouve this bad wide angle
i like that is housing making a so bad wide angle

It is a fish eye not a wide angle for me

  5. I like the lead in shot with the whaleshark swimming in from where you least expect it.

  6. Not his best work for sure, i am with Loftus and thought the whaleshark intro shot was pretty cool.

  7. I like the footage but I think that either the wide angle is not of the best quality (maybe the 10-24 DX Nikkor, I don´t think it´s a fisheye since You see the sting of the manta ray rectilinear) or the 8” dome is just too small for rectilinear ultra wide angle even if it´s DX size format.

  8. Yes, it is sure the intro with whaleshark is very cool

I was a “joke” for the fisheye
but a lot of shot is not rectilinear

Bad dome or to wide angle ?

  9. Guys—you can’t think that this is the same sort of product that would come out of hundreds of hours of capture, followed by post by a production team. This is simply a show reel from one trip to the Maldives, set to music…

  10. true the footage may not be as spectacular as others, but notice one thing, there’s almost no movement at all.. you can see the current as it sweeps through the corals and anemone, but the shots were still, it’s like it was shot on a tripod underwater.. and he wasn’t disturbing the normal activities i.e. mouth cleaning.. that’s what was amazing to me.. super fine buoyancy control.. god-like even..

  11. The tripod shots are nice, setting up the frame and then backing away to let the fish behave as naturally as possible.
I too like the Whale shark intro, music is interesting in a good way.
A fully manual camera can’t be the easiest to use.
I think everyone’s expectations were so high that even the smallest imperfection will be a major disappointment, but I say Kudos!

  12. It amazes me how everyone thinks its a serious crime to point out any ‘flaws’ in in this. People post their work on wetpixel all the time and I’ve seen loads of comments saying “oh its a bit wobbly near the start/end/middle” or “the colours are over saturated etc etc and you don’t get the same “OMG, how dare you, you can’t say that” reactions from the obvious strong fan base. What If no one said anything you’d think there was something seriously wrong with it, or do the photography/ film-making hierarchy only expect adulation and praise for everything they do… I doubt it.

I honestly thought this was a forum where you post your work and you want a reaction to your work good or not so good.

  13. Feedback good or bad helps us all improve

  14. @ DeanB

so what exactly is your point..? that no one is posting ‘good’ comments and people are always finding certain things they dislike about vids..?

i would agree with you that whenever you post anything on any forum, good or bad reactions are welcomed..

however, if you would ‘want’ a reaction, that’s over reaching IMHO.. just be glad that someone commented whether it be positive or negative, but wanting for someone to comment, makes it seem that you’re begging for a reaction..

    just my $0.02..

  15. EH??? NO that’s not my point.

You post your films/pics on forums for people to view or give their opinion. If they choose to make a comment whether good or bad that’s their prerogative as its a forum.

If you post anything expecting ‘all’ to give praise then I’d say that’s at the least optimistic ;-)

All i’m saying is that just because people dislike or do not agree with certain pieces/sequences then it shouldn’t me taken as a insult… Whoever the poster is. It’s just peoples opinions.

  17. Here here… Even the man himself agrees its not his best work… Crikey if that’s just his holiday footage I’m packing it in now LOL ... Back to business on wetpixel then :-)
