Mini review: XIT404 Quad Ball hangers 
An addendum to the XIT404 Quad Ball adaptor review

In my review of the XIT404 Quad Ball adaptors, I observed that:
"some form of attachment eye could possibly be incorporated into the design."
Inevitably, as soon as the review was published, Jody Elliot of XIT404 and Berkley White of Backscatter were in touch to tell me that such a product already existed! In due course, a padded envelope arrived with a kit.
Initially dubbed (humorously) as XIT Ball Hangers, the kit contains two stainless steel brackets, and two Allen headed bolts. The bolts simply screw through the hanger into one of the four holes provided on the Quad Ball hanger.
This then gives a half-moon attachment point to which a lanyard can be affixed. I favor a carrying handle that consists of two P clips (bolt-snaps) joined with a length of heavy polyester cave line and with piece of fuel tubing threaded on to it for carrying comfort. This then attaches between the two ball hangers and provides a comfortable and secure carrying point. It can also be unclipped at one end and used as lanyard if required.
In use, the ball hangers were simple and effective. I found that they worked best if aligned somewhat towards the anticipated load, rather than in a vertical orientation. There is nothing to prevent them from rotating bar the friction of the plate against the Quad Ball adaptor. The holes were large enough for easy clipping and to accommodate large-sized clips if required. The use of a lanyard/handle makes the handling of even very large housings much easier.

The current revision of the handle brackets includes and “anti-rotate” hole that aligns with the anti-rotate pin option on the Quad Ball Adaptor. In use the bracket was pretty secure even without this. I tested the brackets without the anti-rotate and never had them even move.
Xit 404’s carry handle is an adjustable version that boat sherpas love. They sling the lanyard over their heads and carry the rig that way.
When I am in the water I unclip one side and attach it to my BC to tether the rig. When I exit I just re-clip and had it up to someone on the boat.
