Photographers looking to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard” should check to see if any of the applications they use have compatibility issues with the new OS. A good site that lists applications and compatibility is Snow Leopard Compatibility. In particular, photographers should note that Nikon doesn’t recommend updating yet, and CaptureOne currently requires a workaround. Also, there were rumors that Adobe Creative Suite 3 (including Photoshop) wouldn’t work on Snow Leopard, but those rumors have been debunked.

Comment(s):From what I’ve learnt over the years with these major Mac OSX upgrades, it seems best to wait off upgrading until they’re into a couple of updates (in this case 10.6.2’ish...)
It allows any bugs and creases to be ironed out with compatibility etc…
I can’t wait to take advantage of the added 64 bit usability and the Grand Central Dispatch..... :O
Posted by WaterWorks on 09/01 at 04:43 AMHere is a link to what the Lightroom team believes is the solution to those experiencing issues with Snow Leapord. Look for the September 1st posting. Basically, grab your software box for the serial number only. Other than that, all else is workie workie according to the Lightroom folks with 2.4--the latest update.
