Announcing the publication of:

Reef Fish Identification – Tropical Pacific - ebook.

Jacksonville, FL - Jan 23, 2012 – Now you can take a copy of the Reef Fish Identification – Tropical Pacific with you on your laptop, phone or iPad. The new ebook is available in the Blio format for Android, iPad, iTouch, iPhone and Windows PC computers.

The 2,000 species content is searchable through a page-specific table of contents and a scrolling tool bar. On the iPad you can go directly to a subject by typing in a species’ name. Blio provides the ability to highlight and bookmark items and even keep notes on photos (like where you have seen the species). Further research can be accessed on Google, Bing and Wikipedia searches with a single click.

The Reef Fish Identification – Tropical Pacific was originally published in 2006 and is the most comprehensive and user-friendly guide to the fishes of the region. More than 2,500 underwater photographs of 2,000 species identify fishes from Thailand to Tahiti. One hundred eight fish families are presented in one of 20 Identification groups based on a family's related visual or behavioral characteristics. Every effort has been made to group similar appearing species together.

The Blio format was developed by KNFB reading technology and the content is being distributed by Baker and Taylor Inc. Blio is available as an app through Apple’s iOS system and Android. The app comes pre-installed on all new HP, Toshiba and Dell laptop computers as well as T-Mobile phones. You can download Blio for your device and find out more about the software at Blio.com. 2. Too bad they chose a format that isn’t supported on Macs.  Most of the liveaboards I’m on I see twice as many Macs as PCs.

  3. It appears that you can’t order anything from the Blio store unless you have a US address.  Auugh!

  4. I didn´t succeed either with a Swedish address. I have sent an email but have received no answer yet.

  5. It turns out that it is only possible to make purchases on the Blio website if you have an American, Mexican or Canadian credit card. Why in the world would a book seller limit their customer base to that degree!?? That apart, I wonder if it is possible to get an American tp pay for it and get it on my IPad anyway?

  6. But I am Canadian, and I can’t get it to work!  It won’t let me put a province in the state field.

  7. I gotbthe information from the publisher. That was obviously wrong, which means that only Americans currently can buy the book. Even weirder limitation. And my brother is living in Canada, so I was going to ask him to pay for the book for me, but that will then not work.

  8. We offer apologies to our international community for not making clear the overseas accessibility of Blio. Purchases within the Blio apps on Windows PC, Mac iOS (mobile.blioreader.com) and Android are only available in the United States, Canada and Mexico at this time. If you are experiencing problems ordering from Canada, please call Blio’s Technical support at (209) 720-2280. Blio is currently working on an update and enhancements to the Blio Store that will improve purchasing capabilities. Blio originally debuted in 2010 for Windows PC, then expanded to the Mac iOS (iPad, iPhone and iTouch) in early 2011 followed by Android in late 2011. The company plans to expand into the Mac OS (laptops and computers) later this year. We will post further updates and developments from Blio on our Facebook page.

  9. Still doesn’t work.  Calling customer support seems to be useless as you get Kirk’s email and Kirk is never there.
