Sea & Sea has announced the DX-D200 underwater housing for the Nikon D200 digital SLR and the DX-5D housing for the Canon 5D.  Both housings feature a newly-designed shutter lever, which is large and is supposed to indicate when it’s pressed halfway.  The AE/AF lock lever is nicely positioned so it can be pushed while still holding on to the grip.

  1. If I can’t get my Nexus housing to Indonesia then S&S;is highest on the list.

Does anyone know if I can use the Tokina 12-24mm and Sigma 15mm FE together with the NX Fisheye Dome Port? If, what extension rings would I need?

Does S&S;have zoom gear that will fit the Tokina?

    Regards

  2. I have been looking at the Tokina 12/24 lens very closely, checking the specifications against the Nikon 12/24, which are identicle in almost every respect. After a recent chat with Alan James, of Alan James Photography I found that he has been using the Nikon lens on his D70 behind an NX compact dome port with the sea and sea extention ring 40, and he did not need to use any diopter on the lens for it to work, your fisheye dome, with the extention ring 40 should be more than adequete. Although I dont think that Sea and Sea have any plans to make a zoom gear for your tokina, the good news is that this lens has the zoom ring fitted in the RIGHT place, that is to say at the back of the lens near the camera body which, when housed should sit directly under the housings zoom gear wheel. This should make it easy to produce a home made zoom gear at very little cost, I have made gears for all my lenses using drainpipe, washing machine parts and Velcro.I’ve been meaning to post some “How to’s"in the DIY section at Wetpixel but not got around to it yet. I hope this answers your questions.

  3. S&S;D-200 housing was not just announced but, production batch was released to distributers in Japan yesterday according to my supplier. It has aluminum back cover, not like D100 or D70 they made.
