New Feature: "The Mystery of RAW Converters: Why you can't just use one." Different RAW converters and what you might expect from each of them. Is JPG better than RAW in certain situations? Why do sunballs look so bad after RAW conversion? Note that there is a Canon slant to the article, so you Nikon folk out there might want to get your barf-bags ready.

  1. Hi Eric - Nice article, and certainly relevent.  As per recent post to you, it will be intereting to see if the new release of Capture One addresses the Canon RAW files any better.  Also, during my time with D1X and Capture 4, the Nikon software was substantially better than Adobe in terms of processing to TIF.  My workflow would be:

    1.  Capture RAW (NEF)
    2.  Edit in Nikon View
    3.  Batch process NEF to TIF in Nikon Capture using 10MB option in Capture 4
    4.  Import into Photoshop for final image prep.

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. Oh, thanks Jerome, now I'm going to have to do some test processing of the S2 and D100 files for a followup article - as if I don't have enough to do already...;-)
    Cheers

  4. Hey, guys.  It’s much more useful if the comments go in the actual article itself.  This news item will probably scroll off into obscurity, but the article will always be there. :)
