For 2015, Wetpixel will be running a trip to dive and photograph the amazing oceanic whitetip sharks (Carcharhinus longimanus) of Cat Island, Bahamas. Oceanic whitetips are large, slow moving pelagic sharks that are hard to see, in part because they inhabit an extended range and in part because they are increasingly rare due to the demand for their fins for soup.
We will be diving with Epic Diving, who have established an excellent reputation for reliable and safe interaction with these sharks.
The trip will run from 12 to 18 April 2015, and will be based on Cat Island (flights into New Bight airport (TBI)).
The trip includes:
7 days 6 nights accommodation hotel based on double occupancy (single occupancy available at a supplement).
5 full days of oceanic whitetip shark encounters. Airport pickup/drop-off from TBI to the hotel. Daily Dive Boat Shuttle from the hotel to the boat. Continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages on the boat. Tanks, air fills, weights, and weight belts.
Wetpixel Oceanic Whitetips: $3,550.00.
Single occupancy + $250/person.
Wetpixel last ran an Oceanic whitetips trip back in 2008, please see they trip report
The price include accommodation, diving and meals as listed above. It also includes tips and gratuities for the dive center staff. It excludes evening meals, alcoholic beverages and flights.
There are only 9 places available for the trip, and we expect demand to be very high. A $1,500 dollar deposit secures your place, with balances due by 02/01/2015.
