Last week, EPIC, the The Environmentally-aware Photographic Image Competition, announced the winners of its 2005 competition. Please join me in congratulating all of the winners!
In future EPIC competitions, I hope that they do not lump all digital entries into one category. It is rather dated to be doing something like that. [continue reading]
EPIC will be changing the digital category for 2006. We agree Eric it is rather dated. Thanks for the post and congratulations to the winners.

EPIC has accepted Digital entries in the following categories for the past 4 years:
1. Digital Category
2. Creative Category
3. Conservation Category
and “Shark” category (last 2 years)
There seems to be some confusion here. There were definitely participants in EPIC this year who thought that digital entries could only be entered in one category.
But on your website (this year), it is clear that digital entries are accepted in multiple categories. I wonder why people were confused. In any case, I apologize for the statement and will amend this entry.
I personally was not confused.
I generally don’t enter creative but, did not see the conservation category was an option but it is limited in subject matter. My comment is based on the fact that there is/was no specific digital breakdown equal to the traditional film categories. I am glad to see that will be changing in the future also.
I really need to proof and quite typing so fast.
What I am trying to say is sure the conservation category and shark category allowed digital but they are so specific they eliminate a lot of competitors. My point is the traditional film type of categories should also have a digital counterpart like many contest now do. So thanks for addressing this going forward.
Just out of curiosity - Why were there no finalists in the creative category?
Whatever happened to this contest? I was one of the winners, but despite repeated emails to EPIC, they have never contacted me. In fact, they never even notified me formally of my winning entry - I found out because friends had seen the photo on tthe web page. What’s the deal?
