1. Thanks Steve. It looks awesome. There was a lot of excitement from the folks at Antibes and DEMA about this one. From what I hear it seems to find the perfect compromise between coverage, quality of light and size of the strobe. The price seems more competitive than the 250 too. It looks like I have might have finally found the strobe I have been waiting for. Looking forward to more details. Alex

2. We talked a bit with the representative in Antibes. The only drawback I found is the price ! 1800€ it’s really really expensive : 3x times the price of the DS125. Does iTTL’s really a must ?

3. Applause to Seacam!!!  That’s one very handsome strobe with a fine pedigree.  Too bad about the cost.  I’ve used Seacam housings for several years now, and I’ve been very pleased with their performance.  To me the higher cost of a Seacam housing is worth it-- I personally know a couple dozen Seacam shooters, and from them I’ve heard of only one housing leak...and it was due to diver error.  The housings are superbly designed and crafted.

   I must draw the line here at the Seaflash 150 however.  At over USD $2,600 by today’s exchange rate, it’s simply far too costly(more than 3X the price of an Ikelite DS-125).  I’m using DS-125’s with the Ike’s new iTTL adapter for Nikon, and that rig works beautifully.

4. Does anyone know what the color temperature of this strobe is?

5. If I remember it was 4500K. One more thing you must have S6 plugs on the housing (even with Nikon).

6. S6 plugs are necessary for dual strobe use with Nikon, and for use with Canon, totally.  But, to run one i-ttl strobe with Nikon, I’ve been told a Nik V connector is fine.

7. As a proud Seacam owner I can only wonder if the price of 1800€ or 2600 USD for the Seaflash 150 is correct. I own a Seaflash 250 with more power and a switchable color temperature for the same money. I hope it´s an error…

8. Thanks Stephen, I note you write “..S6 plugs are necessary for dual strobe use with Nikon..”. Does this mean that two S6 bulkheads are required or is it possible to use just one S6 bulkhead with a dual ‘T’ cable?

9. Colin - I’m in Australia at the moment, so haven’t seen e-mail for a few days.  I should probably check with Harald Hordosch for confirmation on the dual S6 cord.  I know we discussed this at DEMA but my Swiss-Cheese brain now forgot what he said.  Good question though, and I’ll try for clarification.

10. Seacam confirms dual e-TTL with Canon cameras via their strobes, but not with Nikon. i-TTL with a single strobe yes, but apparently not with dual.

    As for dual S6 cords, they don’t have experience with that and don’t offer such a cord.  But, using dual bulkheads i-TTL with both Seaflash 250 strobes on a Nikon is not presently possible.
