The brand-new Scientific Photography Forum is dedicated to discussion about using digital images as a scientific tool for recording data, communicating to peers, and supporting education/outreach projects for the public. While everyone is encouraged to post there, the forum is specifically designed to promote discussions among scientists, conservationists and educators that use or would like to use digital photography in their work.

Hi,
Can someone help with this: I have been taking photos of sediment cores for image analysis. I will look at grayscale variations. I took the photos in an automatic mode were the aperture (f number) was ket fixed but the exposure time varied (between 1/30 and 1/100) between images.
This is a problem because it introduces difference in the overall brightess between images. Is there a way to correct the images to a common exposure time??? Any hints..?Thank you
