  1. I use a pair of z330s with the 4600k diffusers for wide angle photography, full manual settings. I thought the light spread was a bit uneven, so took to the diffusers with some fine sandpaper to make them a bit more opaque and less clear/transparent. I haven’t been able to do a proper comparison with new or clean ones, but I’m generally very happy with the results I’m getting lately. YMMV
  2. I’ve used 3 different tokina 10-17 lenses over >10 years with a Nikon D90, D7100 and D7200 and have had exactly the same experience. When using an auto exposure mode, they invariably overexpose by 2 to 3 stops. I’ve accepted this as an issue with the Nikon metering system, and have learned to compensate whenever using an auto exposure mode, e.g. shutter priority for whales. When shooting in full manual mode for most diving with strobes, the problem disappears. It doesn’t bother me anymore and has become a normal part of my dive planning.
  3. Q for Alex: How much better for CFWA is the Nikonos 13mm over the 8-15mm in a mini dome?
  4. Adam, possibly yes, but likely not. The potato cod above would be difficult to light with a larger dome at that proximity, which I reckon was just a couple of centimetres from the dome. Plus with a small dome you can manoeuvre your rig into a smaller space, nearer the subject, at angles otherwise unavailable to a large dome...
  5. Mini-dome is my favourite dome. It’s all about getting close, then even closer, for eye-popping CFWA. IMHO.
  6. Thx! Would have been much better without that manta getting in the way.
  7. Here’s an example shot with a cropped sensor Nikon, at about 2m depth: https://www.instagram.com/p/CFOkUNpBv7X/?igshid=1y1pvigwbl68j Edit: taken with Tokina 10-17mm lens at 10mm
  8. Is that only necessary for older batteries? Or does it improve the performance of new ones too?
  9. Title says it all. Preferably within Aust. Just looking for one. Thanks! M
  10. Looking forward to a field comparison of the prime vs pro... Anyone?
  11. Good question. Perhaps folks with some experience using both might know. You can read some FAQs on the maker’s website... M
  12. Yes, mattysmithphoto dot com. No affiliation. M
  13. Hadn’t seen a thread on this topic, and I recently acquired a 12” version. Haven’t had the opportunity to take it out yet, but was wondering if other users had any general or specific tips for use? cheers, M
  14. Am dying to hear some reviews of the new versions... I haven’t pre-ordered and am keen to do so, but unsure whether to choose the Primes or the Pros. Any hands-on advice comparing both would be greatly appreciated! M
  15. Hello, Matt here from Australia. Long time listener, first time caller. Had no intention of registering until viewing recent posts about new retra strobes, and now I want to ask some questions... some my of my photos here, fwiw: http://www.divephotoguide.com/underwater-photography-special-features/article/underwater-photographer-week-matt-curnock/ and here: https://www.scubadivermag.com/underwater-photographer-of-the-week-matt-curnock/ Cheers, M@
