Also I feel like such an idiot, when I read "set your camera to manual" I immediately thought use my manual lenses. I have a couple zeiss manuals that I use from time to time

I haven't been able to find exactly what I'm looking for but here's my question. I've decided to get a Nikon D300 as my underwater camera. I want to use a Tokina fish eye or Nikon 17-24mm I've been reading a lot of articles about how to get the best shots and the ones I've read all say shoot in manual mode. The articles suggest ISO 100/200, F8 and up and then toggle with your shutter speed and then shoot away. My question becomes how do I then adjust the focus of the lens? Am I not thinking about this correctly or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for the tips.... One question, have you found it easy to switch from photo to video underwater?

I am going on a trip to Costa Rica and plan on diving Bat Island for a couple days, I a researching setups and wonder should i do strictly video and then freeze frame a still or should i do photos? I haven't purchased anything yet, i am trying to decide if i want to get something with 4k video or should i get a good camera with 1080p 120fps. i feel like video would give me the best of both worlds. anyone has any suggestions?

Hi New here, been looking for how to post for 6 days now. Hit the contact us that took me to the forum for how to post. I have done underwater photography before, my first experience was in PR with a kodak disposable underwater camera (the photos were HORRIBLE) the second was in St Lucia with a GoPro, it was cool but i still feel like i missed out on great photos. My next try will be with an underwater setup that i am still looking to buy.
