  1. This was great! I love that you got straight to the point and didn't drag it out. Most YouTubers would have made this a 10 minute video, but I really appreciated how succinct it was!
  2. Thanks so much for your reply, Chris. I really appreciate the insight and everything you said makes a lot of sense. Much appreciated!
  3. Hi all, My GoPro Hero5 recently flooded. I had used it underwater only twice in the 19 months I have had it, never abused it, and had all ports shut securely. Both times it was submerged in fresh water only about 3 feet deep, without an additional housing (the Hero5 is supposed to be waterproof to 10m/33ft without a supplemental housing). Because it is out of warranty, GoPro won't replace my camera, but they offered me 40% off a new Hero5 or Hero6. I'm honestly not sure I want to buy another GoPro - one of the features I liked about it was that it was supposed to be waterproof without an additional housing - but I did find that the cam filled a few small niches and am considering replacing it. I have read a number of reviews with other users having the same issue - water gets in the camera even when doors are completely shut and the camera is used at shallow depths - and am wondering if the Hero6 has a better track record in this regard. Can anyone comment on their experience using a GoPro Hero5 or Hero6 underwater (particularly in shallow water without an additional housing)? I don't have a dedicated underwater setup, and am not purchasing a GoPro primarily for underwater use (I like it as a super portable pocket camera that I can use with gloves on in the winter and as a wearable POV cam for some activities), but I like having the option. Thanks in advance!
  4. Reduced to $400 shipped, and will consider reasonable offers.
  5. I recently saw this on Upworthy and thought it was a very well done video. I'm glad to see this issue coming up in the popular media. You guys obviously know a lot about this issue already, but I felt it was worth sharing. Warning, there is a good bit of profanity and graphic imagery. http://www.upworthy.com/hells-kitchen-gordon-ramsay-eats-a-145-bowl-of-torture-soup?c=ufb1
  6. I have for sale a complete Panasonic GF-1 package. It includes the Panasonic GF-1 camera in excellent condition, the 14-45mm lens, and the original box and all of the original accessories that came with the camera, plus a 52mm circular polarizing filter for the lens. This camera has not seen much use, but does have some scuffs on the lens hood. It is clean and in excellent working order. My asking price is $425 shipped in the continental USA, but I am willing to entertain reasonable offers on this item.

It comes in its original box with all of the original accessories, many still in plastic wrap. $990 plus shipping and any fees. Please email me if you are interested.

Panasonic GF-1 and 14-45mm lens Excellent condition Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1K camera with 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens for sale. This kit is in great shape and has been used very little. Comes in its original case. $65.
  12. Might be interested if previous sales fall through, although its out of my price range at the moment. Can you send me photos of the setup and sample images taken with the setup?
  13. Yea, I'm definitely just enjoying it and still only have a few dives under my belt so need to continue to work on my buoyancy control, etc. I'm also always using borrowed gear, so investing in my own dive kit is a priority, and then once I have that I can learn the finer parts of diving and control... THEN comes the camera. But in the meantime I am looking. I wouldn't mind shooting while snorkeling or skin diving to get used to taking photos underwater. But just doing SCUBA and exploring the world underneath the surface is a pleasure in itself.
  14. Damon, thanks for the link to that other site! And thanks everyone for the comments. I'm now SCUBA certified and I love it, although I do question why on earth I decided to pick up another expensive hobby. I couldn't be happy just making dandelion crowns or something, could I?
  15. The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) is now accepting applications for our college program for the 2013 summit in Jacksonville, Florida. The program provides an opportunity for college students interested in nature photography and environmental photojournalism to take classes from pros, collaborate on a photography based conservation project, and meet other students and professionals who share their interests. Scholarship winners are fully funded (except for airfare to and from JAX) and have lodging and meals provided for them as well as fees for summit events covered while part of the college program. Both undergraduate and graduate students 19 years of age and older are eligible to apply. Last year, the program hosted students from five countries and had a mix of talented doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students. For more information please check out the links below:[/color] PDF flyer here: http://www.nanpa.org...Scholarship.pdf Additional application info here: http://www.nanpa.org..._process_co.php I'd appreciate it if you guys could share this with any student photographers you know. I was a participant two years ago (and am now on the committee) and its a wonderful experience and program to be a part of.
  16. If the sale falls through I am interested. - Kari
  17. I'm interested in these too, Scott. Do they fit the Sigma 15mm f/2.8 fisheye?
  18. Is it possible to modify an Ikelite 5D housing to fit a 5D Mark II and/or use a 5D Mark II in a classic 5D housing (Ikelite) with some limitations? What are the primary differences between the two housings? Thanks!
  19. I have a Canon 7D that I don't use very much, so I think its time to find something I might use more. One option is an underwater system, since I've been looking for a while. I'm looking for a complete underwater DSLR rig: to include housing, camera, and port at minimum. Lenses and/or strobes would be a huge plus. It needs to be a Canon based system, since I shoot Canon. A 40D or 50D system, or newer Rebel system could work. I'm also willing to add a bit of cash if needed to get a good rig (and likewise, I would expect cash for a more basic system). This is a feeler post right now - I'm not sure anyone will go for this trade, but I want to see what is out there.
  20. Looking for a Sigma 15mm f/2.8 fisheye lens for Canon mount. If you have one for sale, please email or PM me with your description of the condition of your lens and asking price. Thanks!
