  1. Hi I asking the question because HUPS has been approach to look at a UW photograph collection of a recently decease gentleman. His family does not want the collection and the senior living center didn't want to throw them away until someone has looked at them 1st. So does anyone know of an archive or organization that would be interested?
  2. Hi, You can try Mike Mesgleski at: http://www.underwatercamerarepair.com/
  3. What about Air Pacific from LX to Fiji? I usually carry the strobes, ports in a backpack and the cameras, housings in a pelican case as carry on.
  4. Hi, Eric I believe this dive operator does the sculpture garden http://www.diveislamujeres.com I will not know for sure until Sept.
  5. The club has been using Nations Lab with excellent results http://www.nationsphotolab.com/
  6. Is there a selection on the camera for determining the number of photographs on the roll? Since, this camera has auto-rewinder it sounds like either it not reading the bar code information on the roll for the film size or the selection is set to 24.
  7. I carry all of arms, clamps, and accessories in my carry on. Yes, security lately (Nov & Dec 2009) has been hand searching the case each time. Including the explosive test on the case and random items in the case. In general, the more metal in the carry on the more likely you will be hand searched.
  8. On my last dive trip to Cozumel (09/08) one the divemasters found the attached fish. It was in the morning with the depth between 35 to 40 feet on a sandy flat. The maximum approx. length was 2". The fish would only remain on top of the sand for about 30 to 45 seconds and then complete buried itself. Has the apperance of a star gazer but has eyes like a flounder.
  9. Reply to my letter from Senator CORNYN. Lets just say that if I was executive for the recording industry or the poor librarains. I would be getting a nice warm feeling about how He plans on vote on this bill. Thank you for contacting me regarding the Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act of 2008 (S. 2913). I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter. As you know, S. 2913 was introduced in the Senate on April 24, 2008. This legislation provides a limitation on judicial remedies in copyright infringement cases involving “orphan worksâ€Ââ€â€copyrighted works whose owners may be impossible to identify and locate. I strongly believe that we must protect the intellectual property rights of the authors, journalists, and artists who, through their creative pursuits, benefit all Americans. I also understand that the issue of “orphan works†presents a real problem to both content creators and to content users. Potential users of "orphan works"â€â€such as the libraries and museums who work to preserve historical journals, records, and filmsâ€â€shy away from materials for fear of being sued should an owner emerge. While potential users suffer as "orphan works" fade into disuse, the creators also lose. Not only do creators receive no monetary compensation for "orphan works" that are never used, but they also lose the benefit of having their work viewed and appreciated. For example, a vast treasure trove of documentary and artistic films from the early days of cinema are now disintegrating in their boxes because the film preservationists and historians who would restore them are afraid of copyright liability. On May 15, 2008, an amended version of S. 2913 was passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee and awaits further consideration by the full Senate. This legislation is intended to help fix the "orphan works" problem while taking into account concerns expressed by content creators. You may be interested to learn that S. 2913 has been endorsed by the Recording Industry Association of America, as well as independent librarians, historians, and preservationists. I appreciate the opportunity to represent Texans in the United States Senate, and you may be certain I will keep your thoughts in mind as S. 2913 and other relevant legislation is considered. Thank you for taking the time to contact me. Sincerely, JOHN CORNYN United States Senator 517 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 Tel: (202) 224-2934 Fax: (202) 228-2856 http://www.cornyn.senate.gov
  10. Howdy, you'll B) Diving on the Aqua Cat out of Nassau Bahamas is a pretty nice way to spend Christmas. The only bad weather was on Sunday otherwise there just a little overcast most days. The vessel and crew are excellent. I would highly recommend this vessel for any big groups. The dive deck is large and has plenty of room. The only down side to diving in the Bahamas at Christmas is the cold water. The average water temperature was 71 degrees F. On a couple of dives it got down to 69. The following is gallery of some the pictures I took on this trip. http://home.att.net/~lanceg/Bahamas.html
  11. Well, I was at Capt Don's resort in June 05 and the house reef was in good condition. Lots of moray eels, parrot fish, school masters, and peacock flounder. The dock at Capt Don's is excellent shape making the entrance and exits a breeze. The last time I stayed at the Sand Dollar the dock was gone and staircase done to their beach was not very diver friendly. From what little I could see from the boat when we past it in June I do not think they improved it.
  12. Wow, Thanks Stephen looks like I be spending Xmas in the water.
  13. Thanks, your input has been very useful.
  14. I am thinking of taking Xmas vacation on this live abroad. I am interested in your impressions of the ship, crew, dive and photography subjects.
  15. Mike Here is a link to Microsoft newletter wizard on their template page. Not the greatest but the price is right. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/template...2062951033.aspx Lance
