  1. Looking to buy housing to my 5d mk2 with ports to handle my 17-40/4 and 15mm fisheye. Brand doesn't really matter - ikelite, subal, aquatica all of interest. So hit me with your best deals! (All you old 5d users who left for crop camera 7d just to use tokina fisheye zoom must have houses laying around)
  2. So it will be an Ikelite. Are b&h the place to get it or do you know of any good discounts atm on an ikelite housing for 5dmk2? Are Ikelite the only guys with a combined video light/flash?
  3. Im sure they¨re all great houses, but they're twice as expensive as ikelite.. Don't know if I have the money
  4. I'm fortunate enough to travel to the US a couple of times per year, so the plan was to ship from B&H to the place I'm at - but thanks for the heads up!
  5. Thank you all for your input, information and concern for my safety Of course cameras are disposable - life isn't so I'd drop the camera faster than you guys can say "underwater housing" and proceed with emergency routines.
  6. Sounds pretty neat - do you have any pictures of your setup?
  7. Alright. I've done some economical review here and found out that on the kind of dives I will bring a camera will be no deeper than 50 meters (51, 52 maybe) - if I go deeper I need all focus on diving and wont bring camera anyway. So It will be a Ikelite housing. Next. What ikelite ports and domes I need? This is what I've found out on my own - is it correct? For my 100/2.8 USM I need this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=5...itialSearch=yes For my 17-40/4 I can go with either this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=5...itialSearch=yes OR I can go with http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4206..._Port_Body.html AND http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4646...h.html#features Am I correct this far? Then I need some +3 or +4 lens - about 50 USD Strobing. Yes. I know. IT's expensive so I made myself forget about it but I've been looking at this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6604...robe_Video.html I'll start with one and add another 161 when I got the cash. Have I forgot about anything?
  8. True. As I wrote in another thread - its first now I feel confortable bringing a camera on my dives. It took MANY hours of valvedrills and practice to get there The answer I was looking for was the lanyard though
  9. ... you need to shut off one of your valves? ... you switch gases? ... you donate your primary 2:nd stage? ... something is wrong with your deco-gas and you need to turn it on-breathe-turn it off ... you're diving a mCCR and you need to reach and add dil to the loop? Or is the answer to the above questions simply - stay withing recreational depths with your camera?
  10. On the surface I've been working as a photographer for a couple of years but not until recently I've felt comfortable bringing my camera on cold water wreck dives which are my favorite ones. So now I'm about to buy some underwater accessories for my camera and I need your help! It's a JUNGLE and I've spent too much time reading and not enough time doing valve drills in the pool So my setup atm: Canon 5D Mk2 Canon EF 17-40/4L Canon EF 100/2.8 1:1 Macro Canon EF 24-70/2.8L Canon EF 70-200/2.8L IS Canon EF 50/1.4 Canon 2x Extender So I feel pretty well equipped at the surface - but now to my actual questions 1) What housing to buy? I've been looking at ikelite housings selling for about 1500 USD which isn't all that bad. I've been using Ikelite housings for my point-and-shoot cameras and I'm really happy about the quality, the service and the support I've received when I've had problems with them. Should I get a 5d mk2 housing from them or aim for a metal housing? Aquatech is 1800 USD which is about the same, but I haven't heard of them. Sea & Sea and Aquatica has a bit steep price for me I'm afraid unless you can't convince me that I need to spend 3K on just the housing... (which would mean that my next purchase - a rEVO rebreather has to wait...again...) 2) When diving I'd like to do 3 things. - Take wide angel pictures. Wrecks inside and outside, reefs, buddys posing in front of marine life/big wrecks and so on - Take "portrait" pictures of marine life - Shoot some HD video of the subjects included in points above Which one of my lenses would you say I should focus on getting ports/domes for? Or should I buy a 10-17 tokina fisheye? Help me and explain the pros and cons of my lenses and what I should buy (if I need anything more) 3) I've seen that ikelite has module port system with either a flat dome or a large 8" 180 degree dome and a regular port/dome system. Which one should I opt for? Pros cons? 4) I've read that some lenses require a +4 diop close up lens - what's that about? Many questions from someone that's pretty new at it.. (If you sell any of items talked about, pm me about it)
  11. Hello, I just started taking pictures while diving and up until now I've been happy with my ixus in canon housing - but now I feel limited. I have a 5dmk2 with good lenses (100/2.8 50/1.2 24/2.8 and 24-70/2.8) so I would like to find some used canon uv-photo equipment. I'm not ready to get in the water with my 5d yet, so I was thinking of buying used equipment and make a good deal. Kits with housing + camera body is interesting also only housing so I can pick up a used body somewhere is also of interest.
  12. I've done both the South and North starting from Hurghada and Sharm - using Colona Divers at all times. I'm really happy with the level of their dive masters and the fact that they teach both IANTD and DSAT without beeing all GUE fuzzy about things. The boats are excellent, the liveaboards are affordable and they go to reefs that are not as visited as others. Happy to tell you more if you're interested.
  13. I was quite disappointed in Key Largo (Except for the 10 awesome dives we did at Spiegel Grove). Shallow dives, poor aquatic life and dead coral all over the place...
  14. I've lost my Ikelite 6138.8 housing for Olympus Mju:800 / Stylus 800 and since Ikelite has stopped making them - you guys are my last shot.. I've contacted every retailer I can think of - but no one has one in stock. Anyone up to sell theirs? Please contact me!
