Hi Tom, The Tokina 10-17mm will work perfect for the whales there. On 2003 I worked on a liveabord and we did 12 weeks there, it was amazing and some whales will come very close. Regards

Thanks Tim, I just want to get a smaller port for traveling and I think the smaller port will give me the option to move the strobes forward a little more than DP-FE for new angles. Thanks

Hi everyone, I have been using the Subal DP-FE dome port for a few years and I love it, especially for split photography with my Tokina 10-17 but I thought it was about time to get a smaller one for traveling. I'm not sure if I should get the Subal DP-100 dome port or the Zen DP-100? Does anyone know what's the difference between the two ports? The Subal port is a little cheaper than the Zen. Thanks David

I'm glad you had a great time in Grand Turk. I used to work in Grand Turk in 2003 for the only liveaboard that was there. I love the wall diving. The only thing I don't really like about Grand Turk now is that they have the cruise ships stopping there every day. It's a quite island until the cruise ships arrive :-) If you think Grand Turk is quite then next time you should go to Salt Cay. No more than hundred people live there and the diving is amazing too :-)

When I dove with them they included all the dive equipment but they didn't include dive computers. Yes, Air Tahity are very extrict with the weight limit with carryons. Mine was over the weight limit and they didin't let me take it inside the plane with me. I told them it was photography equipment so the told me to take it with me and once I was near the plane I gave it to a staff member that put it in a different compartment. The sailfish was incredible. Fakara has some incredible dive sites. If you dive with Fakarava Dive Center, be sure to let tem know that you want to go to the South Pass. They need a minimum of people to go there. Is a long boat ride from the noth shore to get there.

I was there last year and I dove with Fakarava Dive Center. This company is run by a swiss couple and they don't take more than six divers. I don't know much about Top Dive Fakarava but I didn't have very good experience with the same company in Bora Bora. This is the biggest dive company in French Polynesia and I think sometime they care more about running more trips during the day than giving freedom to their divers. Fakarava has some incredible dives, specially the south pass but the north pass is amazing too. During my fist dive on the north pass we had a sailfish during the safety stop. Their planes are quite small and don't have much space inside to put any big carryons. If you carryon doesn't fit under the seat they might not let you take it with you and you might have to check it. In the past I told them that I had photography gear and they let me put inside the plane. They have never weight my carryon before.

Thanks for the comments. Most of the photos were taken with a Canon 16-35mm and some with the tokina 10-17mm.

After lots of planning and waiting to get the right equipment I finally did my first undrewater fashion shoot in a swimming pool. It was hard work and I spend quite a few hours in the pool but it was a great experinece. I have been living in the Turks & Caicos Islands for the last twelve years and I have always love the diving and the beautiful beaches. The main advertisement of the islands is " beautiful by nature". The tourist board here has spend years promoting this and now they trying to do this? But recently the Turks & Caicos Goverment has granted a Jamaican company to open a dolphin park in Providenciales. This islands have been famous for a wild dolphin name Jo Jo that can be found sometimes swimming around the north shore of Providenciales. Everyone is very upset here but our goverment don't seen to care to much about it. Please help us signing this petition, we need as many signatures as possible. Hi Scubavid, The operation was good, the were a few things that I wasn't too happy but the diving was so good that it compensate it at the end. I spent my week on their smallest liveaboard they have. Most of the dives are done from the main boat but I think we did a few using one of their smaller boats. They have a floating hotel and it looks great and very spacious but all the dives are done using smaller boats.

Hi everyone! This coming August I will be going to French Polynesia for a few days and I wonder what are the best places to photograph sharks. I will be in Bora Bora first for a few days and then I want to go somewhere else but I haven't decided yet. I have been reading that Fakarava Island has some really good diving. Does any one has any recommendations? Thanks for your help.

I went there about couple years ago and the diving was really good. While I was in Havana I met quite a few Americans traveling around Cuba. It is an amazing country, my only bad experience was at the airport were they stooped me for about two hours because I was traveling with all my camera equipment and they thought I was a journalist :-)

WOW! Great images

Couple of weeks ago I photographed a destination wedding here in the Turks & Caicos Islands and after some talking with the bride and groom I convinced them to do a quick underwater photo shoot with their wedding clothes at their resort swimming pool :-) I have never done this before with a wedding couple and it is not easy to convince a bride to get her beautiful and expensive wedding dress dirty :-p

Recently I did an underwater engagement session with couple of friends that are planing to get married next year. I have never done anything like this before but It was a very fun experience.

Here are a few images from my recent trip to Jardines de la Reina, Cuba. Swimming with a crocodile was awesome but I think felt my legs shake the first time I went in the water with it A big thanks to Carlos Suarez to help me to organize the trip.

I'm saying this because in the last couple of years we have seen that the reef sharks are getting much closer to the divers on a few dive sites in West Caicos and French Cay. Some of the dive operators here on the islands are not very happy with what the live aboards are doing to attract the sharks.

I imagine you went diving with the Turks & Caicos Aggressor or the Explorer. Did you knew that shark feeding is not allowed in the Turks & Caicos?
