  1. SagaDive makes ports for almost all housings. Their macro ports are very nice, tapered and threaded to 67mm. They come in Delrin or aluminum, we've found the delrin to work well. We've had macro ports made for Nauticam, Subal, Sea & Sea and SEACAM quite successfully. I don't see a reason that a SagaDive port, threaded to 67mm wouldn't work with a MWL or WACP for a SEACAM housing, but it's not been tested.
  2. This filter really only works well with a 9" dome and improves the corners by about 1-2 stops. It wouldn't do much for a 8.5" dome and it costs $399.
  3. Need to see images, settings. The 8.5 acrylic port is not the best for that lens; a 9" glass dome is much preferred, along with a longer 70mm extension.
  4. Novus works fine, I've used it many times. You have to start with 3, get the deeper scratches out, then 2 to smooth out the surface. 1 is simply a polish. You have to work the entire dome evenly in a circular motion using a piece of terry cloth or one of their pads. You can't just rub where the scratch is. Takes some time, wax on, wax off...

  8. New Subal Female Bayonet Housing Rings - Type 4 Sold!
  9. 20mm for the Tokina and 20mm for the TC. But most 4" domes have the first 20mm built into the mount.
  10. The YS-D1 recycles a bit slower than the YS-D2J and doesn't have a tone, or lighted back. Also the knobs on them are small and easily moved out of position. That said, I have 4 that just keep on going. I have used 1 YSD2 and a YSD1 together and they shoot ok, but the difference in recycle time sometimes screws up shots. The D2000 has quite a bit less power and would not match up. Jack
  11. Both are good lenses, but the 7-14mm focuses much closer and particularly with the loss of FOV, it's much wider, so it's greeat for CF/WA or wrecks, etc. You get more reach with the 12-40 so for sharks or big animals in clear water it has it's uses. 7-14mm

  16. You must use one of the MWL flip holders or the included bayonet mount and rotate the sunshade. Make sure you're not in DX mode. I've had no problems with it or the SMC.
  17. There is a new ball mount plate and kit from Gates to alleviate this issue. It uses standard 2 screw base to ball mounts from UCLS or others. New consumer housings with these handles are coming pre-drilled for the pin from the plate, but it can be retrofitted onto existing handles by drilling the necessary hole. Part number 3000-97-274 – Ball Mount Adapter Disc, KIT, set of 2 (Ball Mount Sold Separately)
  18. The older YS-D2 has some issues and although S&S won't admit it, they fixed the weak triggering on the D2J model, at least that's what we've figured out. The YS-D2J can be reliably fired using the Nauticam trigger. But yoiu do need to use high-quality sync cords. We've actually found the Sea & Sea cords to be the best ones to use.
  19. Yes, it will help. I've used it with a SagaDive 9" glass dome for instance.
  20. When I shot that combo with a Sigma 15mm FE it was terrible on the D850, yes it focused closely, but the DOF was awful and the images degraded. This is about as good as it got.
  21. I'm curious about this setup and would enjoy seeing some shots. My experience with putting the Kenko TC with lenses on the D850 hasn't been good. Weird DOF and degraded sharpness... but Ihaven't used it with the 8-15 Nikor.
  22. You may have to configure the LED trigger board to work with your strobes. Setting may not be compatible with two different strobes. I've gotten D1 strobes to work with the LED trigger board to1/320th sec in manual. TTL is about 1/250th max. And that's not always consistent. Jack
  23. I and another customer got the "anal" probe about our gear coming back from our last trip to Indo. I've only ever been questioned once - coming back from Grand Cayman before this. They accepted my explanation and a business card and I had a chatty talk with the agent as he had been a divemaster. Just how I wanted to spend a 1/2 hour after a 22 hour flight... So with the new tariffs perhaps they're checking more closely. The issue is that most of the gear we buy is as, or more expensive overseas than it is here in the US. The form is a PITA as they said I have to present the gear and form to an agent before leaving. Jack
  24. Yeah, the battery draining issue is a known problem. Even out of warranty, they will probably reprogram them for you. You'll need to return them to TUSA or your dealer for service.
