Hey Guys , All this talk of LANC is news to me. My understanding is the EX3 has the same 8 pin remote as the EX1. Upgrade Question From D70 to D90 or D300
pmooney replied to njdiver60's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
Bruce - the D90 definately does not function in the D70 housing. I have heard of a few folks who have fitted a D90 into their D80 housings. Let me know if your coming to Oztek and I'll make sure there is one available for you to handle. Cheers -
What lights are you talking about ??

Fisheye lenses - Sigma 15mm Or Nikon 16mm
pmooney replied to pmooney's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
Dave , I recall Alex's musings about the Sigma - it is what got me thinking about this. I already have a couple of the Nikon 16's and am sorely tempted to get the Sigma for it's close focus advantage. Just have to find a buyer for one of my old bikes to fund the D3X ..... and the new lenses and.......... -
Hi Bruce , Long time no speak. I'm sure I have a few of those diffusers in a box somewhere - give me ring.

Like many folks here I am contemplating the move to the FX format and am now looking at my lenses with a view to the future.... The Tokina 10-17 I have been using of late is not compatible so it comes down to a choice between the Sigma 15 & the Nikon 16. Wondering what are the views / experiences of the community ?

The Nikonus 15mm lens has a domed front element as shown . The question that comes to my mind is why would you wreck such a good ( expensive ) piece glass on a home made project .

There is no through the housing control on this model housing so that eliminates that possibility. I have not heard of this type of control button actuating at depth , have heard of them not functioning but usually this can be remedied by flushing excess salt and grit from the control. Trying to understand the fault - is only at depth or is it always ? Does it work topside OK , and then works at what depth ? before it fails at 95ft ?

Sea&Sea housing for Canon 5D Mark II
pmooney replied to karn888's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
In a word - No. -
I believe that in real terms all new underwater housings are limited production models. The days of cast or molded aluminium housings are gone - modern manufacturing techniques , rapid prototyping and multi axis / tool CNC machinery have made low volume machining a more viable option for manufacturers of niche products such as underwater housings. The ability to tailor an actual production run to real market demands rather than anticipated is not to be undervalued and in the longer term will only benefit the underwater imaging community. Better to lose a few R&D dollars ( or Euros / Yen ) than have significant capital investment in a pile of castings that have no demand. My 2 cents - now back to the workshop to bolt together an even lower volume item - a 160 CI V-TWIN for the old bike
