I would like to advise members of my recent listing on eBay.co.uk for a NEX5 with Nauticam housing. Full details on the listing but this is a complete system including camera body and a lens, a Nauticam Aluminium housing, flat port and various peripherals. Full details on the listing, it doesn't cost anything to check it out! It is ready to dive and idea for upgrading from a compact camera, as a back up for a larger system or as an entry level camera for those looking to get in to underwater photography. The item is listed with a modest reserve and the item location is in the UK, but with shipping options worldwide. Happy bidding! Having trouble collecting on a claim with DEPP?
S1mon replied to Chuck Tribolet's topic in The Galley: General Chat
As a nice postscript to this thread I received the following email from a guy at the Fraud Division of the Kentucky Insurance Commsioners office, its dated 8th June 2013: "As of today I filed criminal charges against Deane & Dixie Lehrmitt. I know they have attempted to settle your claims. I need to know from each of you what is still owed to you so that I can petition the court for restitution on your behalf. I have been in contact with their attorney and he has advised me he will act as a 3rd party administrator to help settle the claims. The Lehrmitts are no longer allowed to work on your claims. I would appreciate any future correspondence that you may have Lehrmitts, that you don’t mention the criminal prosecution." This is as a direct result of compaints made by myself, Glamorpuss and one other. We are very happy with the result, and will be even happier when we receive final full payment of our claims. If anyone is any dount: DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO DEPP, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! With kind regards and big smiles Simon :dancing: -

Dear All, I have just sent in my papers to the Kentucky Insurance Commissioners Office, I have a guy there who is investigating the fraudulanet behaviour of Dixie and Deanne Lehrmitt at DEPP. I would be happy to have a SHORT(1 paragraph) summary of your experience with DEPP to send along as a follow up to mine. It will help me and it will help you. Please PM me today, asap, now please... this is happening now and I could use your help in trying to get my $3500 out of these people. In return I will send you details of the investigator I am using and the guy at the Insurance Commissioners office. I will keep you informed of how it all goes. I intend to follow this up with the Attorney Generals office. I really hate DEPP, they rely on us all having claims that are just a little too small to warrant a legal case. Regards Simon -

Dive/Photo equipment insurance revisited?
S1mon replied to Marjo's topic in The Galley: General Chat
Hi Michael, You are not alone! I have been pursuing my claim for 16 months now. I have a similar set of emails, but mine cover 15 pages of legal paper at font size 8! I also have a very similar email from Deane Lehrmitt, also in Blue Caps, also B%$#Sh1t. I have just finished my complaint to the Kentucky State Insurance Commissioners Office and it will be going to the AG office in California and Kentucky too. My claim is approved, has been since October last year, but they will not send the money. They have long since received the cash from the insurers and have probably spent it elsewhere. I wouldnt worry about where this is posted, its just good that you are spreading the word. This company is clearly in difficulty and doing everything it can to not honor claims. Tell everyone you meet with dive equipment and cameras, DEPP are fraudulent. They have seriously p*&^^^d me off. Best Simon -

DEPP- fraudulent beyond any doubt. My story is that I suffered an insured loss back in April 2011. I made a claim from Belize where I was working at the time. I didnt send the paperwork by courier so of course they "didnt receive it" so I made the declaration, got it notorised again and sent it by fedex this time. Then the fun really started. They do not have a telephone line (that anyone will answer or pay any notice to) so you cannot call, you have to email. I averaged 3-4 emails before i got a response and usually at least 3-4 weeks wait each time. Dixie bulls**ts you and leads you on and when you reach just the right level of stress she passes you on to the Broker, Deane, who is the voice of reason and sends a lengthy email about how its all the consumers fault that they are slow to pay. Then he bulls**ts you around for a few months too. They appear to comunicate with each other by email and you get the impression that he works for a different company (IPG) , but as they are married this is clearly crap too and they almost certainly run this little scam from their home. You can search for them on the companies register and see the raft of companies that they maintain. I eventually got approved for my claim in October last year. They did no investigation, asked for no proof and I thought this strange. but then of course they had no intention of paying! Its now July 2012 and still nothing. they no longer make any pretence of their intention to pay. they do not respond to me and I am pretty pissed. My claim is worth $3500 and I intend to do what I can to get my money. I work as a Cruise Director on a liveaboard so each and every week I tell my story to the photographers who come on the boat, my intention is to cost them as much lost premium as I can. I have already persuaded two of their existing customers to switch to H20 insurance through DAN at renewal time. Also, one of the guests on my boat works as a Private Investigator and he is working on it for me, for free. I will keep you updated on what happens... he already has some information on them that maybe they would prefer I didnt. Another of my recent guests is in the Insurance business and knows the Insurance Commissioner for Kentucky and promised to do what he can to help. If you have an issue with them I suggest you: 1) Contact the Kentucky State Insurance Regulator/Commissioner (I forget their proper name, but its easy to find). make a complaint, it might help, but it might not. 2) Do not stop emailing- do not give up 3) Spread the word to everyone you meet in the diving world Allison, if they do have the gall to show their faces at DEMA give them a poke for me too please! Thanks, Marjo. I have a claim with them that has been outstanding now for 6 MONTHS!!! Its for over $4000 and they "never received my paperwork" and then did not respond to emails, I finally got to Deane Lehrmitt (by the way, did you know that Sandy Hall is actually a Lehrmitt too making this a family run scam/business) and he has BS'd me around for several months. I am now going to the Kentucky Department of Insurance as I have had it with them.... DO NOT INSURE WITH DEPP, IF YOU CAN USE DAN (I HAVE HAD EXCELLENT RELATIONS WITH H2O AND DAN IN GENERAL) DO SO, IF NOT SELF INSURE BUT DO NOT INSURE WITH DEPP/AWRY/INNOVATIVE Best Simon -
Wow, some great responses, thanks. The main area most agree on seems to be the amount of space available and this is unfortunately one of the things I cannot change, it is what it is. I am just trying to maximize the use of the available space. I am looking at the personal space that each diver gets to store their gear, a personal dive locker, maybe with clothes hanging space above (wetsuits would be in a separate wet area to drip dry). Already factored in: - two fresh water rinse tanks just for cameras, another for kit and a fourth for wetsuits - dive deck head - three hot water showers - drinking water on dive deck - cocoa after night dives and on nasty rainy days (few and far between) - shade - Storage for camera bags - Clothes dryer on the dive deck for dry towels after every dive I like the drip rack for cameras to sit on before making their way to the dry table... Keep em coming! Thanks for the input... Simon

Hi damp-pixelers... I am in the process of redesigning the dive deck of a well known liveaboard and am interested to hear from the wealth of experience out there. If you were designing, or remodeling, a liveaboard dive deck what would you design in? What natty little features have you seen or thought of that no dive deck should be without? What should we have two of and what should we forget about? Looking forward to hearing your ideas, the practical, the impractical and the downright inane... its just for fun, but you never know! Oh and building an E6 lab probably wont be an option!! I will kick off: How about a warm air vent to dry your wetsuit between dives! Wishing you warm waters and good vis... Simon

Hi there, Just thought i would write to say hello and introduce myself! I am Simon, Captain of a Liveaboard based in the SE Caribbean and proud new owner of a camera and housing, D90 + Aquatica, with ikelite strobes... and loving it! I have been a professional instructor/diver for over 5 years and have slowly graduated from a 3Mpix Canon point and shoot, to a 10M one, then adding a strobe before finally taking the leap of faith and investing in my current set up just three weeks ago (thanks Christopher). I also own a Sony A1U with Light and Motion housing (dont get me started on that) and have been the ships videographer for the last year or so.... I guess its video for work and stills for fun! Looking forward to learning more from all of you experts and happy to answer any questions others may have of me! wishing you good vis and calm seas... Simon
