  1. Hi Simon, In your review you wrote about "spot focus"... How does it works AF underwater with BMPCC? Actually I do not know how exactly AF works on BM camera... I read a lot of negative reviews: slow and inaccurate. Is there a button of AF? On my Pana I do not use multi point AF but I use single centered AF. Usually I focus prior to start recording via the Lock AF/AE button. Thanks
  2. Panasonic 7-14 is my default lens with nauticam and GH2. The 8mm is really sharp but is a PITA to cover the entire FOV with artificial lights. I think that with a 3X crop factor would be perfect. If you are going to spend some cash remember that the 8mm has a back filter holder while the 7-14mm not. (Does exist a diy mod). A cheaper lens it's the Olympus 9-18mm. PS I'm curious to download the clip from Vimeo There's a specific option on Vimeo for 1080p play
  3. Nice Simon, Good results ith the 14-42 and that crop size. I would like to lend you my 8mm fisheye
  4. I was impressed from this screen grab taken with VLC from the video that Nick Driftwood posted on Vimeo. The uploaded 4K file is available for vimeo subscribers. This camera (and I hope other new entries at NAB) brings to us a new era. 4K for the masses. It's like when we passed form SD to HD. These screen grabs are like photos. zoom 1:1 Ungraded: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/uploads/FileUpload/1c/54c6d1925c4e90a164ab7bd1022a43.jpg Graded: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/uploads/FileUpload/12/1d1d823d2ae2b88ba1e44fae1363cd.jpg
  5. Very very nice indeed! At firt sight I said: "this should be some new google earth version!"
  6. Hi all, Where I can see some 7-14mm or 8mm BMPCC underwater clips? With that crop factor I guess that the Fisheye shouldn't be too bad. Thanks
  7. I 100% agree. BTW Even that it was clearly relate to this April fool, Canon rumors didn't remove the above post. LOL
  8. 99,9% sure it's an April fool (I hope ) Another rumors http://www.canonrumors.com/2014/03/canon-interested-in-acquiring-panasonics-camera-division-cr1/ Last year the April fool was that VK and Drifwood were hired by Panasonic and PV shut down.... Anyway figures are not the best ones for the entire photo segment.
  9. GH4 samples are spreading across the net. Here you can download the 4K file: . Here an ungraded flat profile CineLike D: Frank Sauer (http://frank-sauer.com/) and David Reid started a short using a GH4. David is writing a (sort of) liveblog: http://www.eoshd.com/content/12319/andrew-reid-frank-sauer-shoot-panasonic-gh4-production-diary-day-1
  10. I've been using that titling for quite some time. Just look at the last part of my previous video "Valsavoia" e "La Foce" to see how it looks in a longer version. Thanksss
  11. Technical diving changed our perception of scuba diving, moving out of common contexts to deep unexplored wrecks and caves. Surprisingly, we can observe this in crowded recreational dive sites, where technical diving has changed or redesigned the map of dive sites. Trimix, scooters and rebreathers allow to regularly dive these sites at depths well beyond recreational limits, sometimes diving two or more spots at once. These tools allowed the discovery of new dive trails and sites which have become common knowledge. Often these explorations involve long scooter rides on the lunar-like seabed, possibly holding unexpected surprises. Out there, a few hundreds of meters apart from mooring buoys, nearby walls, reefs and wrecks there is a unknown world waiting to be (re) discovered. Poor viz and a lot of backscatter... I know but this is our winter sea
  12. No hibrid OIS ala gx7. OIS is only on lens. Camera ois is not possible on video because sensor heating. Olympus has it on omd-em1 but it has limited frame rate and nitrate.
  13. The most complete review until now: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/comment/161736#Comment_161736
  14. Hi Nick. #1 yes. it's not clear if the infamous 30' limit will be in all camera when you switch to PAL mode... #2 All reviews say that the body it's exactly the same as GH3 except two things: * A 2mm larger eyecup that can be removed. * A lock mechanism on upper part of the right wheel. hence a GH4 could fit in a GH3 housing immediately or a modification (NA-GH3 MarkII) to accommodate both camera from nauticam shouild be trivial. EDIT: A GH4 user manual leaked confirming that you get 1080p 4:2:2 10 bit or 4K 8 bit out of micro-hdmi without the brick. In the meantime
  15. I continue with this little OT because Oly officially presented the lens showing a mock-up. Real lens will be out in 2015 http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj524/picrumors/picrumors001/0071_zps6ee9e0a3.jpg
  16. No, read the previously posted presentation in PDF. You just need a micro hdmi cable and an external recorder as well. EDIT: Doc was removed from original location but it's here again: http://www.personal-view.com/logo/GH4_Presentation.pdf
  17. Or even better... GH4 has already internal 1080p 444 recording. It is just the 4K itself! When the camera will be out it's a matter of time and simple convert utilities will appear. They will make 444 lossless formats out of 4K videos.
  18. Yes. With those lens the only option is eBay Actually I guess they have a huge market. A little bit OT but an amazing future new entry for uw use
  19. Once upon a time a reserved doc but now it's spreading all across the interweb GH4 presentation with definitive specs: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cn0rev9fy5kumfv/GH4_Presentation.pdf It seems that this time Panasonic listened to they customers and hacking community. BTW There are some comparative tables against an upcoming 7D MKII
  20. Correcting that kind of problem is easy. BTW do you still believe to promotional video?
  21. First nice feature breakdown on this camera (ironic) Time to jump from GH2 to GH4...
  22. But you get amazing 200mbps at 1080p or 100mbps at 4K without external recorder
  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHKJ5eE7I1k A nice hands-on from a videographer point of view: http://www.eoshd.com/content/11934/panasonic-gh4-preview
