Well, I just found the answer to my own question ... these lens bodies are made of Delrin, a strong, stable synthetic that has a very good reputation ... and apparently is a "polyacetate."

Greetings - I've noted that some UW lens bodies (to name one brand, Dyron) are made of "polyacetate" as opposed to anodized aluminum or some other material. Is anyone familiar with any negative issues with this construction, or perhaps even positive points? I suppose their inherent buoyancy could be slightly more positive, but can't think of anything else myself. Any opinions? Thanks!

Greetings, all - I guess the subject says it all ... looking at purchasing a UW lens online from the UK and having it shipped to the US. Already spent several hours searching for any kind of formula, duty rates by class of merchandise, anything. Does anyone have a lead for this kind of info? I'm a real tightwad, and even though the lens is a very good price, I'd like to avoid a surprise brought about by a stiff import duty. Thanks in advance!
