Great White cage diving Isla Guadalupe
Donald A replied to Donald A's topic in Photo / Video Showcase
Thanks for the feedback. Exposure varies so much by monitor and is especially difficult to judge when going to print. -
Another one from my trip to Isla Guadalupe with Jimi Partington and Shark Diving Xperts and Islander Charters out of San Diego. This shark is known as Ropey due to a rope that encircles her head that her skin has now grown over. Sad. I really like the lines of this photo - the rope to the bait, her approaching, and the mackerel and smelt leaving. I also like the details of the bite marks on her side and the reflections off the underside of the water surface. I am very disappointed I cut off her tail. I shot this using a 16-35 f2.8L ii at 35mm. I should have zoomed out but things happen so quickly. I'm still new at this. Nauticam housing, Canon 5Diii, 16-35 f2.8L ii at 35mm, f8.0, 1/500s, ISO 800, manual exposure metered on the bait, shot raw and processed in LR. C&C/feedback welcome please. Thanks.

Went to Isla Guadalupe for great white shark cage diving with Jimi Partington and Shark Diving Xperts and Islander Charters out of San Diego. It is an incredible trip - 2.5 days on location, 13+ hours in a cage on an air hookah system, lots of large (4-5+m) sharks, 100+ft vis, great food and camaraderie. I'm an avid amateur wildlife photographer and this was the first time I took my Canon 5Diii underwater. I picked up a used Nauticam housing and prayed! All went well. I shot several hundred images with my 16-35 f2.8L ii. All were shot raw, manual exposure on the bait, ISO 400-800. 1/800s, and f6.3 +/-. Slowly working through them in LR. This is my first time to post a photo here so hopefully is uploads correctly. C&C/feedback welcome please. Thanks.

For Sale: Nauticam Housing Setup for Sony A7r II
Donald A replied to gadgs311's topic in Classifieds
I'm interested in the housing and N100-N120 extension if available separately. -
I only shoot raw and use LR for editing. I use freeware FastStone for quick viewing, culling, and renaming the files.

I shoot a lot of wildlife and am always paranoid about losing my photos on the road. I bring enough memory cards and never delete the photos from the cards before I get home. I copy the photos from the cards to my laptop and also copy them to an external SSD drive. When going through the airport, I keep the cards with my camera, my laptop in a case, and the SSD drive in my pocket. Overkill I know but the photos are irreplaceable.
