  1. I wonder if anyone can help with a problem that has been bothering me for some time now? Macro videography is my favourite thing but I am often plagued by flickering sunlight in the shallows. Whereas this is usually great for wide angle stuff I often causes quite ugly results for macro subjects - especially on lighter sand. I shudder to think how may clips have ended up on the cutting room floor becaus of this. I have been toying with the idea of using one of those foldable grey balance/reflector cards as a sort of umbrella. Is this a problem for anyone else and do you have a solution? Cheers Steve
  2. Thanks Dave I really enjoyed that. I think you have got the clip lengths pretty much spot-on. I used to have trouble embedding the videos until I realised that you can't add the link from the YouTube Studio page. If you just go to the regular YouTube and search for your video and use that link it should embed OK Cheers Steve
  3. I remember seeing an episode of Johnathan Birds Blue World where the camera man demonstrated his technique. It involved using one hand on an arm coming out from the side and the other on the hand grip - his theory being that the plane of the hands are at 90 degrees and this eliminates a lot of the camera shake from the wrists. This is especially pronounced with DSLR type cameras. I have used this technique with my tripod and I find that it helps quite a bit. There relevant part starts at about 3:00
  4. Jesper I use the Inon spotlight as well and love it but I find that unless I drop my colour temp down to about 3600K the images are very much warmer than my wide angle lights which are similar to your Archons. I find adjusting the colour temp white balance back and forth a little annoying and I know that you can just fix it in post for the most part but I was just wondering if you have the same issue and how you manage it? Cheers Steve
  5. I use Plex media server with a wired connection so there is no lag. It works great for me.
  6. Thanks It was mostly with the Oly 60mm some shots with the Oly 12-50mm. The really close stuff was done with an Inon UCL165 diopter (about +6 I think). Also shooting in 4K and presenting in HD allow quite a bit of latitude in reframing. Cheers Steve
  7. Some highlights of my trip back to Anilao in July this year. I have been playing around with sound design lately and I would appreciate your thoughts. The whole process is quite challenging so any tips or tricks would be most welcome. Cheers Steve
  8. I was using a Dive and See monitor for a while on my GH4 (Until the mini HDMI port packed it in) and I used back-button focus all the time. I wouldn't have thought the two models would be that different.
  9. Apart from the short battery life the only other downside I can foresee is overheating. I see that it uses a fan to cool down the processor - I wonder how that will work inside a housing?
  10. Wow I enjoyed that greatly. I think you have a real talent for macro. The exposure and lighting are spot on and some very interesting framing. I loved how you can see the eyes inside the mantis shrimps eggs. Cheers Steve
