Thanks everyone. I have already signed up for a PADI OW course. Better safe than sorry. Although, I don't think I will really be diving that much for the dive itself alone. I will visit the tropics this mid year, take my rig with me and shoot a lot of pictures then head back to Canada and hibernate. The photography part was what got me interested in this anyway.

Does a person have to undergo: OW Padi ---> Underwater Photography, Night Diving, Cave specialty course --> Night Diving Underwater Cave Photographer? Or Discovery Scuba Course--> aided scuba in reefs with Padi Certified Diver --> Night Diving Underwater Cave Photographer? (Is this even valid?) Lets just say option 2 is for the casual "vacation only" diver.
