Hi, at 100m its 11 bar ;-)) A difference can be that the pressure puts so much power to the orings that pressing / turning gets a lot harder... Was once with a Subal video 8 housing a lot deeper than planned, and couldnt simply switch it on, because the switch was a knob, and i couldnt turn it... Non of the sealings was leaking, simply too tight. Point can be that the springs have to be changed to stronger ones for deep diving. Thats what is the most difference between normal and deep housings. Regars, Wolfgang

Hi, most important to get an idea if its port or lens. The camera lens can have a coating, its very important not to harm that! The lens port, depending if its acrylic or glas needs different care. So thats the first things to clear, then we can think about getting rid of that spot ;-)) Have cleaned water spots from glas ports takes long, but works. And again, be sure the portglas is not coated. Acrylic needs a polish, be very carefull with chemical things! Best of luck, Wolfgang

Sorry Tim, cannot give you a like! Its sometimes realy a pain in the a.. when you see what people do to get a "great" shot.. Laying on the ground, bending corals, guides forcing critters out, there they would normaly not be during daylight... Just one story, you allways see guides trying to find feather star shrimp, and force them outside on an arm. Sorry, these little guys live normally during daytime between the feet of a fatherstar.. So no chance to get a good pic. But during night time, they are easy to photograph, because they are sitting on the arms of the featherstars... So simply take a night dive to take a pic of them! Respect the nature if ou want something from it!

Hi Claire, havent thought about the 60mm with diopters. It has closest focus 18cm ( from the sensor ) so if you use a diopter, even only +5 there is not much space between port glas and subject... And you need some space to bring the light in too... With the Sigma 105mm its 32cm, and the Nikon micro Zoom has 37cm ( but its an external focusing lens, so it comes out ~ 5cm if you get to the closest focus point ). Both these lenses i have been using with +5 and +10 subsee diopters. What i like about these two lenses too, you can stay a bit away from the animal, so its not so scared, as if you nearly punch it. If you watch a pygmy breathing, what you can easily see throught a macro lens, and some divers before you tried to get a good shot ( means ~ 10 each ), its breathing very quickly, thats a streß symptom. So i find it ok to stay a bit further away for my shots. Regards, Wolfgang

Hi Tim, use mine in a no name flip, works fine. No secure items. If you use a secure line, fine. Used a cable tie for heavy wide angle adaptors just around, and a small one to fix it on a double side clip. You could take some teflon tape, like the one which is used for plumbing to fix the thread more. Good luck, Wolfgang

Hi Tim, not really bad, but not a keeper. Its a DX lens, and i have a D750 as well, now added a Z6... Found it not worth keeping beside the 60mm and the 105mm. Its more light weighted, thats the only plus i could find. The Sigma 105 OS is a very good lens, never had the chance to try it versus the Nikon 105mm. But its stunning sharp, works well with +5 or +10 Diopters so makes me happy ;-)) If i want it heavy i take the old micro nikkor zoom ..... Slow, but as a zoom more versatility. Regards, Wolfgang

Hi, been using the Nikon 60mm, Sigma 105mm and the Nikon 70 - 180mm macro zoom. On D300 and D500 underwater, and D750 above. Depends on what you want to shoot... Have tried the 85mm too, but sold it again after one trip... If you want to get tiny stuff, a +5 or a +10 Diopter ( harder to use ) can make real fantastic pics. Even with the D500 if been using manual focus, not twisting the lens, but pushing the housing forward or back in mm steps, because its sometimes hard to get a tack sharp pic. But as Tim mentioned, a very small field of depth... Best try it on land and the in the bathroom... Regards, Wolfgang

Hi, had some troubles firing S&S strobes, still have a pair of YS250 pro, as they have an in and out socket, i run a wire cable in strobe A and then a fibre cable to strobe B. For wide angle, i have made myself a "connector" to use 2 of the cables to get the strobes wide enought away from the housing. Simply a piece of black plastic you drill a fitting hole in, or if you find a pipe with the exact diameter inside to put the plugs in. They do great strobes, but the ignition is a bit to hard... Have Inons as well, easy to fire!!! Regards, Wolfgang

Thank you two, had not been so lucky, so some floodings during the years... And thoughts that are not 100% on your line... My first was a S&S DX1 on my first asia trip. Third day of 3 weeks.... My fault, catched the secure ribbon of the front cap between oring and back door... Exact behind the lock buckle... Didn see it, murphy was on board, was a dive there you had to swim 10 minutes from boat to site, national park... When i started decenting, i saw it, small bubbles inside, so much too late... Did the dive, as soon as back on the boat rinsed everything in sweet water, but much too late. So back in the hotel, i through everything in sweetwater again, but camera was gone, battery corroded and it was 2008, no laptop or storage device with us, the 2 days before gone... Somehow i keept the SD card, and back home, it was dead. But it was laying in the shelf, and after 8 or 9 months, mistakly was used again. And there were pics on it. More the 90& were ok! So as Alex said, keep your dead gear and keep trying!!! As a Hugyfot user of the older generations, using one of the first Nikon D300 housing, i had 3 floods. One was a broken snap ring, during a dive, again 3rd day, in Thailand, during the dive suddenly one of the buttons came out... Catched it, and pressed my thumb on the hole until the end of the dive .... The button i put in a jacket pocket with zipper, was easy to repair afterwards at home. Was only a minor water entry, but because i kept the camera horizontal, it was too much.. Some water came to the card slot, and it quitted working. All camera was ok, but no card accepted... Dont ask... So, thank Alex for that, will help! The two others have been a construction issue of Hugyfot, that ended in introducing vaccum systems. The old housing generation was desinged to be a front and back part, holded together with two screws. No snap locks like other companies, only two screws with an allen key. What was great, because the housing was round shaped and so easy to hold... No unwiedly edges where you hold it. Backside was, that both times it was the second dive of the day, on boats, so my idea was that the temperature difference and the boat shaking startet loosing the screws... And thats the point against Alex theory, the problem appeared at the end of the dive. Starting was easy, everything worked fine. At the end of the dive, last meter to surface, after the safety stop, suddenly a curtain of bubbles came out of the seal area on top. Pressure that keept the two housing parts together was lost. So getting up was important, but with a dslr rigg, and not much air in the jacket because you want to be slow, it was a kicking event, until another diver came close enought to blew up my jacket. and as Alex said, keep the port downside. It was once a wide angle, these ports can take a lot of water, and the other was a macro, but with my Nikon 70 to 180mm micro zoom. There is some space to the port from the front element, since it is a old lens that neds it... Both times no losses. After that i thought about leaving Hugyfot, 3 times issues is not the best recommandation, and i got a new camera, Nikon D500, and from that model they changed to snap locks... But from history, the brought vaccum systems on the market, simply because they had a construction problem... So there couldbe a lot of different problems, its only important to know how to deal with them! And thanks for explaining that very good! So wish you allways a dry housing, Wolfgang

My only problem was the rubber ring of the zoom. It came of, without splitting the lens. A german underwater fotographer fixed it for me. Regards, Wolfgang

Hi, my girlfriend used a RX100 mk I in a Recsea housing. Bought her a Inon wide angle lens, and later a Inon fisheye lens: http://www.inon.jp/products/lens/ufl165ad/top.html Worked great. Hi, i use a D500 in a Hugyfot housing, and bought later a second setup for trips with plane, where the luggage is a problem. For this i choose the Sony A6300 in a Nauticam housing. Its a pitty, that Nauticam has not copied the Sony Axxxx line housings, when planing the Nikon Z50 one... I have a Z6 for above, and had a Oly OMD 5 in a Nauticam housing before... But as a long time Nikon user, the D500 was the best way to go. And with regulations getting worse with luggage, i choose the Sony. Hoped that the Z50 would be a good alternative. But the housing is nearly as heavy as the D500 one, so thats not a way to go. Spezial from europe, as we have very strict luggage rules... Regards, Wolfgang
