My D810 has not faultered, I'm always happy with images, when there is any blur I can see that it's my fault, hand holding long VR lenses expecting them to soak up 3-5 stops and starting with 1/125 at 300mm (on land). At times people forget the basic principles of photography. One I've used for years is simple. Shutter speed should equal focal length at least, even with VR. It's true that VR helps but it's not to override Basic principles of obtaining sharp images. There are people out there with more money that knowledge on the topic and will happily be upset with results created by their own foolishness at times. It will happen topside mainly I guess when not shooting flash. We expect so much of VR and it can and does help, but better to apply principles that have been used for years. Try and stationary subject with flash I'm sure it will be perfect. Craig

I get exactly the same and treat it exactly as Larry has, sometimes a wrench in needed some not. What I found increases the problem, is leaving the ports or rings in situ for multiple days. I'm just glad the fit is so perfect that's it's making a good seal lol. Using bad language and calling it names also helps I find !!! Lol Craig

I'm just in Bali at present using mine. Works a total treat. I grabbed mine from EBay if that helps anyone. Regards Craig

You need to measure you optic diameter with a set of calipers You can then select the next largest size from their range mine was 0.3mm oversized which was a perfect fit. Regards Craig

It's a total of £70. I don't think it will hit with customs as the value is low. The seller just shipped via standard international. If anything it will be about £10 by the time RM have slapped a handling fee on it lol. Regards Craig

Hi All Just thinking about changing my old 105d for a 105VR. Need to get some dimensions of the 105 VR, including switches. The NX compact system might just about take it. I have got 89mm internal diameter of the ports including any threads. Is some using this combo ? That would answer it swiftly. Thanks Craig

Thanks for your input folks I have in the end gone with a 48can Norchill. Cheers thanks Richard , will take a look, where did you fine cinebags in the U.K. ? I think looking at my macro rig its going to have to be a 48 can size. Had the tape out and from viewfinder to front of ports it's >10" I'd have to compromise somewhere I'm sure.

Hi All I'm looking to grab a 48 can cooler for my trip to Bali Difficult to find good products here in the U.K. So I'm happy to eBay something or Amazon. Found Norchill and AO coolers to be the products available. I've emailed Norchill and asked about of the zipper on their bags. They are not water tight. Are AO bags zippers water tight ? Watched lots of YouTube vids with AO used and abused . Norchill having water poured out of the zipped bag. Thinking of this rinse tank scenario or should I say over thinking it ! Proberbly don't even need to worry about it as long as it's keeping the housing damp for a few hours. Suggestions please and thoughts all welcome. Thanks Craig

Guys Thinking out loud, 60mm with 1.4x or 105mm, for capturing Pygmy's , I'm sure I've used 60mm in the past with a diopter but my memory is failing. Thinking that 1.4x will bring me in greater than1:1 Thanks C

Hi Marianne You need to search your soul for your expections into this form of photography. All cameras no matter how good are capable of taking snaps, however to take images that sometimes one desires it takes a considerable expense, time and knowledge to master the art. If your looking for just family memories that involve a splash I'm sure both systems will serve you well. If your looking to dive a with system then you need to consider which type of artificial "sun" you'll be taking underwater with you. Light is essential to replace the wave length of light "RED" primarily that is lost as you dive deeper down the water column. You don't always need light, as you could use colour filters or adjust using a software program to a certain extent. The Hobby/Profession tends to be an expanding one, so be prepared for this ! Once captivated by UWP you tend to strive for better and better images. To capture those images you need an assortment of light focusing devices "lenses" and something to paint light onto your subject "flash" It's no use rushing out and getting the best of the best. If a poor eye and brain is behind the viewfinder, only snaps will be captured. With effort, knowledge, equipment, perseverance and time you can of course produce something that is outstanding. I'd more than likely go with your compact system to start with and save that D750 for something it desire's like a proper housing. It will also cost you less to replace should the worst happen. If your going to go through the expense of getting a new housing for a Canon 100D I'd advise you not to. The camera might not be able to grow with your needs as you progress. The expense of the housing isn't all that different in comparison to a new housing for your D750 from Ikelite. So I'd just bite the bullet and get a D750 housing if you really want to do this at considerable expense. The Nikon D750 is a very capable machine and I'm sure will serve you well should your aims expand. Also and one big also, all of what you see is not all of what has been captured by the camera these days. The art of photography since the arrival of digital has become a multidisciplinary art, that of image taker and image manipulator. Wish you the best of luck choosing what to go with. Regards Craig

Hi All I thought I'd just share this little tip with you. having just got myself a lovely VF45 finder I want to provide the best care I can for the optics pre and post dive. I'm always very concerned about loose items damaging sensitive and expensive things so I set about looking for a solution to protect the optic. The caps supplied I suspect are easily lost. I managed to find a cover for telescopic sites from Butler Creek. They do a range of sizes and I found a perfect fit for my S&S VF45 See attached pictures. They are made for outdoor use, but for £10 I'm happy to replace when it wears out. This might have been covered before in other posts, but thought it was worth a share. Regards Craig

Thanks all. Currently in touch with those suggested. As this is a family trip, moving around is not possible, so it will be day dives only. Staying on Lembongan for 6 days then onto Nusa Dua for 6 days. I'm not planning on doing too much on lembongan in all honesty just a couple of days diving, got a swanky villa so should be well priced out of backpackers lol. I'll have to put up with the long journey by car. Was trying to find someone that boats it up to Tulamben from areas in Bali, but no luck I'm happy to leave the itinerary to the dive centre as they know the sites better than me. But would you guys say do a couple of days in Tulamben , one day macro, one day wide ? 3 dives a day ? The Pier and I'm listening for anything else you think is a must they can be reached in a day lol. Regards Craig

Hi Could anyone assist with the getting me the internal diameter of their zoom ring for this lens, alternatively give me the external diameter of the actual zoom ring on the lens. I'm looking to grab a new tokina 11-20mm and I need to establish if the the 11-16 rings will drive the 11-20. I have an email from tokina stating the external zoom ring diameter on the 11-20mm lens is 74.3mm. I can make my own for the 11-20 but it's easier justly to grab an off the shelf if it will work. Hi have the above unit for sale. Works perfectly but needs a service as I found very small water ingress. It's been stripped and rebuilt orings cleaned greased and re-seated. It's on eBay item number 262437080882 uk site but will ship internationally As said works perfectly but I'd want you to get it pressure tested prior to use.
