  10. hi, I read your old thread on the use of Nikkor10-24 DX with the Nikon D800. You use it in crop mode (DX) or FX? I'm interested because I want to go to the D800 but I have the 10-24. Thanks Claudio
  11. Many thanks to all for your valuable advice.Today I bought a micro Nikkor Af-S 60 mm (used, of second-hand), having found an excellent opportunity. Ciao.
  12. Nikkor 20 mm f2, 8... a valid lens for underwater use with the D800? It is an economic lens, small and light, excellent optical quality. Someone uses it?
  13. which do you think is the best lens for DX Nikon cameras? Nikon DX 40 mm or DX 85 mm?
  14. HI Drew, I have read your kind response to my question about the sigma 8-16 mm. You may also use it with the Nikon D800? Possible? the lens is a lens for APS.C (DX) ...
  15. A possible option could be the new Nikkor AF-S 18-35 f3.5-4.5 G ED. Small and lightweight, economical. We read of good optical and construction quality, but nothing yet on UW use....
  16. I shoot UW with a Nikon D300 in Sealux CD300 housing and domeport 180F with fish eye Nikkor DX 10.5. I would try with a wide-angle linear zoom l (no fish eye, and therefore immediately I reject the Tokina 10-17). Sigma 8-16 I think has some good features: I read good overall and optical performance and also a minimum focusing distance of only 24 cm, which should eliminate the need for additional lenses. Someone in the forum has experience? Thank you.
  17. The sensors are very different not only in size but also in the pixels density FX 36MP 36000000 / 861 = 41811 pixel/mm2 DX 24MP 24000000 / 365 = 65753 pixel/mm2
  18. The recent review made by DxOMark on the lenses for the D800 indicates that lens as the best of those tested (WA zoom) for quality and for the quality/price ratio. They have not yet tested the 12-24 Nikkor ... (twice as expensive!).
  19. New Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-35mm F3.5-4.5G ED. New lens for FX format. Small, light, cheap, would seem to also of good quality from the first reviews that I read. The first of you who will use UW can post your impressions?
  20. I already have the Nikkor DX 10.5, which I consider a great piece of equipment, so the Tokina 10-17 would be almost superfluous ... I would like a wide angle zoom, not a fisheye. However, for some your answer and also some online test now I am convinced that the 10-24 is slightly better than the 12-24 ...Thanks
  21. I am new to this forum. I go underwater for more than 41 years and underwater photographer for 20 years. I have a Nikon D300 in Sealux CD300 UW housing. Objectives: Nikkor 10.5 DX and sigma 17-70 macro. I want to buy a wide angle zoom and are very torn between this two: Nikkor 12-24 f4 or Nikkor 10-24 f3 ,5-4, 5. Some of you advise me on the right choice? thanks Claudio Merli
