  1. Hi everyone! I had a great dive a couple of weeks ago at Zabargad, in the south of the Egyptian part of the Red Sea. A couple of Longimani showed up and circled us for a while. True to their usual MO, they stayed on the side that the sun came from. I was in the water with equipment for small stuff, which didn't help in getting close to them either. OM-D EM-5 in a NA-EM5 case, with a 45mm Panasonic lens (and two D2000/S2000 strobes that I didn't use and a Nauticam SMC-1, which I didn't use either... ) The action was fantastic, but visibility wasn't amazing at all unfortunately - if you have any editing tips that might improve this a bit I'd be extremely grateful. I ended up with these pictures: JPG from camera: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Lak_nZWziOMl9xVlo3ZTJFNm8/view?usp=sharing RAW from camera: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Lak_nZWziOa28zcV9FYVlqUWM/view?usp=sharing Edited shot that took me around 2 hours with the spot removal tool:
  2. Good point. Also, make sure the lens on your M4/3 camera is actually locked.
  3. Amazing, thanks Jim! I love the soft coral crab. So pretty!
  4. Wow, there are some amazing shots in this thread! My shot of 2013 is a turtle on Shaab Maksour, in the south of Egypt. The turtle was eating soft coral, and I found a little sandy pit and just figured I'd lie down in it and see if the turtle wanted to come and say hi - it did! This was shot with a OM-D with the Panasonic 8mm fisheye lens. Distance to subject: <15 cm
  5. Wow, that pygmy seahorse is fantastic! Nice work. And to reiterate what previous comments said: VERY. Very. Very. Very. Very. Very lucky.
  6. Hi there! I 'just' came back from a safari in the Lhaviyani, Baa, Raa, and Noonu atolls in the Maldives. Had a few very interesting dives with lots of cool creatures. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/105075711684827778699/albums/5986576625013961377 for the full set... There were a bunch of things I couldn't figure out, they're all from night dives by the way. Thank you very much for the help! 1. Some sort of hinge-beak shrimp maybe? 2. Two crabs in a coral. The one on the right is relatively easy, although I don't have my book right now and I seem to forget names faster than I learn them... 3. Very cute furry crab. Couldn't quite get it into focus, as it was only around 5-8mm wide: 4. Some type of candy crab?
  7. Hi there! My name is Fabian and I got into underwater photography relatively recently. My first dive was 18th of November, 2011, and by now I've racked up 180 dives, a DM certification, and a huge bill on scuba equipment (dry suits, wet suits, full-face mask, regs, bcds...), an even worse bill for photography equipment, and a purely ridiculous number of trips to places with underwater creatures worth seeing. And yes, I am aware that's all places. So, while my account and credit rating are in steep decline, my photography is getting better. So I've got that going for me! I'm looking forward to having some experts being able to tell me what I've actually taken pictures of, and seeing all your fabulous photos. Cheers!
