But just think how many times you could sneakily advertise your editing software on there...

Is he wearing a Stinger as well?! He's better kitted out than most divers i know!
Cool
-
AHh, ok cool
I still cant get my head around the search function in twitter. The work one is very civilized, however i can't promise mine will always be like that!
-
We're in, but i'm confused... I added Wetpixel as a friend no problem. But if i look for myself from the resort twitter i can't find anyone with my name... Very odd...
Anyhoo... @NAD_Lembeh and @Simon_Buxton for those that are interested

We used to see hammerheads on 80% plus of every Pass dive in season, often seeing more than one. However that's in December - February.
The dead shark shot by Yves was to attract a Tiger.
Tiputa and it's eastern corner are nice for Mantas and Dolphins if you have some luck, if you're stuck on the inside there's apparently a sharkfeed site towards the south.
I sure as heck dont miss those days sitting out in the skiff in bad weather
However the diving is awesome. Have fun

Anilao! You have to do Anilao!
Sorry to hear about the Rib
Glad to hear you're still diving.
Bug Maggie about diving in Anilao, i think she's back from Europe now - Although she's been at work for a week so might be on holiday again!

Yap is probably your best bet.
For big boys, try Banda, Indonesia, but it's a long way to go for one fish!

... which side of the strait were you staying? The Good Side! hehehe
Great Photos Lucas, i see on facebook that you're getting some good action in the PI now too...

Down the Side of the motu in Rangi is ok for macro, but i really wouldnt bother as autopsea says. You might be just too late to see the Grey Reefs mating, but fingers crossed you see it in the pass, it's awesome.
If you head out to Fakarava, there is a nice nudibranch site next the the channel marker closest to the dock near the main village. I used to dive it every fortnight and found some quite cool stuff.
I've seen the SubSee in action with Kris and Keri and whilst wasnt convinced to start with it won me over when i started to see the images.

Go on Carol, benchmark your beast.. you know you want to

Is this the same Diana with lighting strikes tattooed down her leg and lives in Guam?

I recently acquired a new Macbook Pro 17" with 2.9 Intel chip and made an E-FIX mac desktop. Out of pure geekiness i wanted to see how their performance compared, so i used xbench software to compare the two.
Here are screengrabs of the results:
MBP17" 2.93Ghz Dual Core Processor
Custom Build QuadCore, 8gb Ram, 512mb Graphics Card:
Both are at about the same state in terms of program loading, the MBP has only one HDD so it cannot perform well in that department, but i have lots of FW800 drives so it's not a big deal.
I am a little dissapointed by the CPU score for the Quad, i will try t find out why that is so in the near future.
Maybe others can post how their mac performs so people who are thinking about getting a mac can see the differences.

Oh... why im here... What version of FCPS2 do you need to be compatible with SxS media from my EX1... 6.01 ??? or newer...Thanks
I think 6.03. i'm currently on 6.04. 6.04 also requires your OS to be uptodate.
Cant believe you havent worked out how to do this yet... You also need to download the plugin for log and transfer. The Sony software that came with the cam has been updated too.
-
You are all missing the point. A PC doesn't run Mac OS X. End of story.I have a quadcore desktop with 2 x 24" monitors and 8gb ram that disagrees with that statement
-
I dont know how to quantify it, but rendering is a lot less painful than on my old MBP. The way i see it, you might as well get the best chip you can - you cant change it later.
-
I have a glossy 17 incher...
I went for the 2.93 but didnt want to wait for the matt screen, the new trackpad takes some getting used to as does the spacing on the keyboard.
I understand Wag's sentiment with regards to looking at the pricing, but once you've used a mac for a few months it really does become part of you. Plus they have a much nicer resale value.

Can you connect your little toy camera to the mac via firewire, then connect the Tv out/component from the cam to the tv?
Then you can have 2 monitors for editing and then the timeline preview running through the cam to the tv?
Don't think it'll work with the EX, but might work with the HC. I used to do that on my old vx2000
-
Congratulations Carol
I'd be curious to see the results from Xbench or some other benchmarking utilities, just to see how fast your new toy is

If you're still having a moral dilemma... send her my way

Shut up and keep taking pictures!Mike, post a picture of your housing for John... He might stop giving you grief then!
-
I use the 45 degree viewfinder and i love it. Another bonus of using the 45 is that no-one else wants to borrow my housing cos they hate it!
Serge, I'm in Jakarta now - need me to get you a sensor cleaning kit before lembeh?

:)
I just bought a frikkin D300
Every time i buy a new camera the next model comes out!
