  1. Will probably be impossible if there is no access to the multicontroller. But in M mode, why not use the front and rear dials ?
  2. For Sale is my copy of Martin Edge's standard The Underwater Photographer - 3th Edition. Paperback. will post anywhere at cost, from the Netherlands (or can take it to the UK and post from there at Easter). just make a reasonable offer. It is in good condition, there is a reading 'ear' on one of the outside pages and I have read it more then once.
  3. I used a sigma 15mm for a while in a 5503 dome port (the 6 inch), and later got the larger 8 inch port. I never did any side by side comparison shots. the wide angle ones in this set and the years before are with the smaller dome port. I got the bigger dome port in 2010 I think, so after that I used that port mostly. Think I sold the smaller one because I never used it anymore. https://www.flickr.com/photos/cerianthus/albums/72157604579637384
  4. Although from a manufacturer from a different port, he is an honest bloke and the pictures showing the coverage are genuine. (scroll down a bit) http://uwcamerastuff.com/precision_5_dome.htm
  5. Very sad and sudden news. I also enjoyed his conversations on wetpixel. I never met Dean in person but I bought a spot from him for the very first digigreen trip to Scapa. An amusing bit of conversation was my misinterpretation of his question are you well. I wish his family all the strength they need after this loss.
  6. Welcome Adam ! Gerard hopes Adam will stop talking about himself in the third person. Cheers Gerard
  7. yes, short the circuit on where the article explains. if you switch the strobe on and off repeatedly it will quite often flash as well
  8. From the specs slighty faster and the same aperture at all focal lengths.
  9. It looks like a squat lobster indeed but no idea species wise. Maybe try on the uw macro fb forum or a marine ID fb group?
  10. I think I get your point now. the focus up till now has been on developing a good strobe, without too much emphasis on how it will be produced. Now it is in production, it turns out to be a well build strobe, but the production is slow (maybe because it is well build). You are now looking into small ways to change the way the strobe is designed (while keeping all the plusses), or change the assembly method, so ultimately the mk 2 or whatever you will call it can be produced quicker.
  11. I dont get it. If you stop production how will the availability increase?
  12. Anybody want Martin Edges book for a small price? About 10 euros / 12,5 dollars / 8,5 pounds? I got the 4th edition as well so this one is redundant. Can easily ship worldwide at cost price
  13. As the title says. My own accupacks are getting older and I would like a spare or 2 to practice putting new cells in before I destroy my own. Its ikelites number # 4066.5. It has to ship to the Netherlands.
  14. I recently got Humann and Deloach guide to reef fish identification. I am not a native speaker and a word often used in the description of the geographical distribution of species puts me off balance. It is the word balance, e.g. in rare south Florida northern and southwestern carribean. Not reported Bahamas or balance of Caribbean What does the balance mean in this description?
  15. His photos are probably not hosted in the same spot anymore.
  16. it looks higher then the V4. While the V5 look like the LED is better seen from above, I wonder how well you see it from the side. I'll stick to the V4 :-). Which I wont hesitate to recommend...
  17. Thanks, I would be interested to hear. For the most part, I think the shutter itself and * button triggers are allright on my Ikelite housing, could use slightly longer stems. When the housing is loaded properly, the shutter speed and aperture buttons will work allright, but I always have to check. And since the knobs are high and relatively thin, its a thumb and finger job, not just one finger.
  18. As I also use Firefox and have no problems, as has trimix , I think it is not a general wetpixel or Firefox fault but limited to your installation. can you just not trash the temporary files, the cache or whatever?
  19. Ikelite even sells anti reflection rings https://www.ikelite.com/collections/anti-reflection-rings I just got a permanent marker and marked the white letters on the rim. Trouble I have is mostly not the lettering on the lens, but the ikelite zoom ring.
  20. Ikelite ds 51s are great macro strobes. Same cool light temperature as the inons. The larger Ikelite's have a warmer light that will help in blue water and feature a circular tube. They are large indeed. I have made 3D print knob extensions for both ds51 and ds125/160/161.
  21. your old port will be a six inch port (those come with a hood for stray light), although there is a 'super wide port' from the film era that might be a bit wider without any hood. I dont think there are any numbers on the old ports. the Oring will be the same as newer ones, the port size has not changed. Orings for the housing will also still be available. I'm not sure if I would remove all the controls, unless you need the room inside. As for the vacuum : that might be worthwhile to beef the system up a bit: the 2 lock system will have a slight wobble, although that doesnt mean it will leak when wobbling (if that makes sense). I have jumped of boats with that port system (without vacuum), but I took care to minimise the force on the housing by leaving it on top of my head. My current housing has the 4 lock port system and I use a vacuum. I think there are 2 focus gears available, one is a bit thinner then the other. They are quite cheap and simple. https://www.ikelite.com/collections/zoom-gears(well there are more, but 2 are the main ones)
