Trip Report: Cayman Aggressor IV, May 2016

Thanks! I did visit the Sunset House a few evenings to grab a few meals Saturday night (I was staying at an awful hotel nearby, unfortunately Sunset had a 3-night minimum stay when I tried to book it). Photofest looks great! I'll keep it in my sights.- 5 replies

I just got back this weekend from my first liveaboard trip on the Cayman Aggressor IV. I’m new to diving (only had 10 dives before the start of the trip), and this was my first diving using my underwater camera setup. I didn’t set my expectations too high for myself in terms of photography, but felt like I still came home with a few keepers. I also greatly improved my diving and buoyancy skills and am getting more and more confident underwater. Overall, the experience was excellent. The crew did a great job of making everyone feel at home and safe, and they did it with a lot of fun and humor. The food was very good, and the diving was beautiful. I have nothing but good things to say about this trip. This was one of the Jim Church School of Photography trips, which was good not only for the guidance on photographing underwater but also because the group is like-minded and all have similar goals: to get good photos or videos of what we find while diving. This also meant that the dive sites catered to photographers and I expect to take more of these photo-themed trips in the future. Mike Haber was our instructor and he did an excellent job. Here are some of my photos:

Hello! I'm Nicole, a photographer/author living in Portland, OR. I'm currently working on my open water certification, and I'm excited to get involved with underwater photography once I'm comfortable in the water.
