  1. I am an intermediate level diver (maybe 200 dives) and dive with an ikelite dslr housing and two ike strobes. i have been using a very basic travel jacket style bc - mares. it isnt very comfortable- looking to upgrade I am looking for suggestions on style of bc mostly if not all tropical diving I am not sure if i should make the change to rear inflation? any suggestions on brands - cressi and zeagle seem to have good ratings thanks ian
  2. i lowered the iso and that has helped - thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. i wondered about lowering iso to isolate strobe as exposure source or raising shutter speed??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk i guess partly depends if you care about the background, suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk they are ikelite strobes in shallow water so i suspect they are firing at low output (fast) maybe my highish iso is the problem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. d810 2 strobes ttl , 105 mm, shooting f11 1/250 iso 320, not capturing moving fish well at all, should i go up to 1/400 and if ao should i raise iso or leave it alone ? my impression is you would raise iso mostly to expose background better - not so worried about background, I see people shooting w 1/160 but most fish move! thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. i got it all sorted out . i am pretty sure the problem was that little switch inside the housing to tell the housing whether you are using ds 160 series strobes or ds50 . all my pictures today were well exposed.
  6. i just realized the little switch inside the housing had accidentally flipped from ds 160 to ds50, maybe rhis limits the juice sent to the strobe? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. ok thanks i guess you dont need the shutter speed to freeze teh action as it the strobes do that. in one of scotts articles he suggested starting at the highest sync speed that is how i chose the 1/320. i will try 1/125. i will try off ttl using manual to try to get a feel for things. Ian
  8. hi i am not sure if my problem relates to my strobe position or camera settings or presence of diffusers? first day with d810 ikelite dual ds 160 , shooting fish and macro mostly less than 4 feet away. camera iso250 1/320 f9 strobes w diffusers in TTL pointing straight ahead positioned about 3-5 inches on either side of the housing handles. i noticed in water that my histograms were under so i added plus 2-3 even still most of my images needed to be bumped up 1-2 stops in post do i need to take off the diffusers, tuck in the strobes, point in the strobes\ dont really want to add iso, the fish were quick so as well so I dont want to slow shutter and want dof so dont want to increase aperture. the good news is the visibility was just ok and i did not have much backscatter to my surprise Thanks for the advice Ian
  9. is this not basically the same as cropping in post? you lose megapixels either way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk with the tc you dont lose megapixels but you lose a bit of quality ie contrast, color, sharpness etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. thanks, wetpixel experts have convinced me to order the sigma over tokina fisheye. now i am stressing over the best dome. apparently there is a unique issue with ikelite and all of their domes even 8 in with this housing lens combo that there is a small amt of vignettign with some camera bodies and not others. even ike spreadsheet says it will vignette with some bodies. some say it is the shade which can be shaved but most say it is the port body as the sigma lens is so short. i am considering precision 5 in dome instead of ike 8 in dome? or Zen 4 inch. ideally however i would like to be able to do split shots. any suggestions for best dome port for d810 ikelite with sigma 15 mm??? thank you and i promise this will be the last inquiry for awhile..... Ian
  11. the sigma that is ? the lens is so short but i gather it is camera dependent and minor? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. i changed my order thanka again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk they say it has some vignetting when used w ikelite and 8 in dome. i guess i will just have to crop that out.? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. i changed my order thanks everyone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
