Tamron 15-30 f2.8 for underwater photo?
phantomduck posted a topic in Photography Gear and Technique
Hi all, I'm looking for a WA lens with Nikon mount good for sharks, mantas and so on. I read several good reviews about Tamron 15-30 f2.8 but none related to underwater photography. Out of the water it seems slightly better than Nikkor 16-35 f4. Do you have infos about it? I the fixed hood a drawback? Do you advice another lens? Thank you very much -
I will be in French Polynesia next august. I hope to have the chance to take some picture of humpback whale in Moorea. Do you have any advice about companies who arrange whale watching snorkeling trips? Thank you

For sure the sigma 20mm 1.4 art should be an interesting lens on land but it cannot take any regular screw-on filters. I appreciate your advice on the minimum aperture. I've a lot to learn... My other choice for wa would be the Sigma 15mm fisheye. It supports f22 as minimum aperture. Thank you all!

Thank you very much for your replies and advice. I'll use the lens on a d800 body. I was thinking what the ideal f-stop would be to achieve the best compromise between diffraction and depth of field. I hope i could use a little wider apertures using the Sea & Sea corrector

Hi, i would like to use a nikkor 20mm f1.8 g with a 9'' dome. I don't find many reports or reviews of this configuration. Do you know any downsides? Do you use extension rings? Do you know if Sea & Sea M77 Internal Correction lens could help with this lens? Thank you

Hi, I'm Marcello from Italy, it's a lot I've been reading interesting threads on this forum. Now I'm upgrading my underwater housing, I'm very interested on your experiences with nikon 20mm f1.8 and 9'' dome port, extenders, Sea & Sea M77 Internal correction lens and other setups. Thank you all
