  1. Hi! Well, I'm a Singapore Citizen and I'm a newbie to these sort of things. Like what's this about huh? ANyone care to enlighten me? Some Details Perhaps? Thanks alot.
  2. I'm just being curious. What about the full-frame 8mm fisheye? Let's just say it is in direct contact with the water, will it still have a field of view of 180 degrees? Thanks alot for the previous reply!
  3. Hi Guys, I believe underwater, the object will appear nearer so when using a camera underwater, won't you be effectively be having less field of view for that same distance to an object (as compared to land shots). So, won't the focal length of the lens change? For example, a 14mm lens on land, will it still be 14mm underwater? Also, lets say the macro mode on land requires at least a 2cm distance from the object, would this increase underwater? Thanks Alot! Wesley
  4. Hi guys! I live in Singapore and started diving in June 2002. *Extreme Newbie, especially to underwater photography* Anyway, I started underwater photography in August. I currently use my educational institute's Canon powershot s30 without a strobe. Other than diving, I play the clarinet and spend most of the rest of my time on the computer *Mac, Windows, Linux*. I have an interest in photography *this led me to underwater photography*. I have no job. *I'm still a student* I have just completed a project concerning the use of QTVR for a 3D representation of a coral on your computer. I hope i can upload this to my webpage soon and you guys can go view it.
  5. I think i've got it. So the slave strobe and the camera's main strobe will fire at the same time? Don't you need to cover the camera's flash to avoid backscatter? Also, I'm thinking of purchasing a strobe for my nikon coolpix 4500. What would you recommend? Something that gives me the most "bang for the buck". Thanks alot! By the way, I don't think the coolpix has the preflash system. So is the nikon coolpix compatible with the slave strobe? Or can it only be used with the hard-wired strobe? Wesley
  6. Thanks! However, I would like to know how does this actually work? I've read your article on strobes for the camera but don't really understand it. I'm sorry. So does the camera flash its own flash and the strobe will pick it up and flash? Then, how does the synchronistion occur? (There is no connection). Thanks! Wesley
  7. hi! I've been using the Canon Powershot S30 underwater for some time now believe that i would require a strobe for better pictures. Unlike the nikon cameras, this one has no connection for the strobe. So, is it possible for a strobe to be used with this camera? Wesley
  8. The Ikelite one. It looks the same as the one for the 995
  9. I was just looking at the Coolpix 990 in the housing. There seems to be those 2 protrusions at the two sides. I'm wondering if there's enough space for your hand to press the shutter button. Forgive me if this is a dumb question I never had a nikon with the housing. Only the naked camara.
  10. Hi! I'm a newbie to underwater photography and require your help. I currently own a Nikon Coolpix 4500 and i'm not sure about its strobe system. Does it support the Slave Strobe or does it have the slave sensor? I believe the camera can be hard-wired but i don't really know whether it has the preflash system or anything like that. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
