Probably not worth risking ruining a trip over trying to save carrying a pound worth of glass, especially after such a long dry spell.... [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello! I am hoping to make it to Guadalupe for my first great white shark cage-diving (at the mercy or mischief of COVID that is). Wanted to poll fellow photogs, 1- fisheye or rectilinear? 2- strobes or natural? (Heard strobes are prohibited there, any truth to this?) i want to maximize quality but also try to take my gear as carry-only and avoid checking it in on the flight.

Canon 16-35 mm Mark II or Mark III?
Msorougi replied to Msorougi's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
I am on full frame (canon 5D Mark IV), with an 8 inch dome port (I think that is ~ 200 mm). And looking at ebay, I can sell the 17-40 for $350-400, and get the 16-35 used for f/4 for $700-750. Interesting thing, 16-35 f/2.8 Mark II is about the same price ($700-$800). I will probably sit on this for a bit, I have no immediate need, and there is no shockingly wide difference in image quality that warrants doling out the money yet. Thanks @ChrisRoss -
This has been sold. thank you all!

Hello! Any advice on the camera settings, positioning, time of day, specific gear/setup etc., to get the perfect sun burst? I managed to get a couple, but I will admit it was a function of good luck...

I prefer to sell as a whole, or at least with extensions. But if I am unsuccessful I may just sell individual parts. How much are you offering for the lens? (USD)

Canon 16-35 mm Mark II or Mark III?
Msorougi replied to Msorougi's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
So currently I have a canon 17-40, you think I should just stick with it, save the cash and go diving instead? -
I know terra firma photographers sing the praises of the improvement of Canon 16-35 mm EF 1:2.8L USM Mark III over its predecessor, the Mark II (Which in and of itself was a great lens). But my question, given the substantial difference in cost, is there a substantial difference in quality when it comes to underwater photography? Should I save my money and go for the Mark II? Or would I regret not doling out this much extra on the Mark III?

Bam! You got me at for the money you save, you could spend a week shooting at some exotic destination! I dont think that any of us got into uwphotography with an expectation that this would be a cheap endeavor; between chasing great dive locations and great photo gear, money was a lost cause from the get go. That said, as much I would love to get my hands on the MBZ of housings (and boy do I!), i am pretty content with a reliable and affordable VW!

Hahaha! I do have a weakness for cheese I am currently using a Canon 6D. And in all honesty have not tried a Subal before, but have seen others use it, and i will concede it did look very solid in terms of build quality
