Slippery-when-wet replied to Cybergoldfish's topic in Trip Reports and Travel
Hi One Lung, Bob has gone off to Seychelles until February or March but should be online again by this Monday. My husband and myself are joining in this tour and we are both new too. Send Bob an email and he will explain everything. P. -
Sigma SD9 Review Posted
Slippery-when-wet replied to james's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
I must say I weighed up all of the pro's and con's regarding this camera after reading 6 reviews by experts in the field and consulting with several of the writers of these reviews. I did this because buying a camera system is a major investment for me and I wanted quality but value for money too. After all of this I contacted Jessops in UK and ordered one, together with 2 zoom lenses. The Jessops head office in Leicester told me that I was on a waiting list of 1641 (paid up) people, but every one would be delivered ASAP when their bulk stock arrives during December. On to the continuous debate about marketing, please guys I am the women here! Look at it in simple English. SD9 with new technology £1299 - $ 1799 Canon 1Ds £6999 - $10500 Nikon D100 £1699 - $ 2500 The Kodak 14 Megpixel release, according to Jessops, is now looking doubtful. I can buy 3 SD9's a housing and and a load of lenses for the same as just the Canon 1Ds body What is any sane person going to do given the choice. Whine all you like but these are real unbias facts. A whole host of new lenses will be released shortly too obliterating the 1: whatever problem. This was the quibble over APS and 35mm some time ago. Price and quality dictates its marketing value - trust me I am in the business. P. -
MMMMM me too.I was thrilled with the outcome of these images from Sipadan as I was the Red Sea as the colors are magical. For only $1.50 a roll I think the value was extraordinary. Everytime I get bored I sit and look at the printouts and daydream.

Thanks again. This turtle was sleepy on the top of a shelf during the afternoon, it stood out even without the flashlight. I was surprised how colourful myself on the slides. P.

Thank you Herb & Sabine for your words of encouragement. I shall post some more pictures soon P.

It is like being on Sipadan again. These turtles come straight at you! P.

Thankyou Bob, I am grateful for your time interest and nice comments. P.

Being a newcomer I didn't realise they had taken such a beating over the years, but thanks to that I feel morally educated. That Guy you mention offering turtle on his menu is acting disgracefully. That turtle picture is supremely sharp! Is it in the Red Sea? P.

Green turtle at Sipadan Island Borneo I started taking photos underwater in July after a visit to the Red Sea and Sipadan in October. I don't have my own camera as yet I have only hired them (Motormarine 2's from my local dive shop). I am thinking of buying a digital camera later this month and this is what brought me to this site. Hope the photographs are worthy of some critism either way.
