  1. Well i made the trip, there were indeed lots of lettuce sea slugs, but I didn't see a single nudi. Sigh. But there were some interesting things. I tried to create a posting under the photo pages but don't seem to be able to link my pictures in directly. I'm hosting on smugmug. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong. I created a link to the album on smugmug, but wanted to just link a few pics, A good bit of what is there isn't that great. I did snag a shot of a Peterson's Shrimp carrying larva though.
  2. My family spent a week in Bonaire with Kids Sea Camp, a family dive company. All pictures were taken with an Olympus OMD EM1 Mark I and either the Olympus 60mm Macro, or the Panisonic 8mm fisheye. The case was Nauticam. This is my first time trying to link to my server so it may take some experimenting. https://lyleross.smugmug.com/organize/Bonaire-2018-Dive Well, I don't seem to be able to link the image into the post. The link is to the album, but it would be nice to directly insert picture links. Does anyone know how to do this for smugmug? Thanks!
  3. The whole grain of rice thing may defeat me. But I will do my best. I had trouble finding 1 inchers in Palau. It was a whole new world of looking. At least in Bonaire I can shore dive and go at my own pace. Thanks!
  4. BTW, thanks for the links to Ellen's work, amazing stuff! For the life of me, probably cause I'm old and slow, I can't find the gear list wydeangle mentions. Regardless, her stuff is inspiring.
  5. Very Cool! Thanks for the replies, Now I just have to go and see if I can get some pictures.
  6. I have recently taken an interest in nudibranches and am taking a trip to Bonaire over Thanksgiving (late November for non US citizens). Does anyone have any suggestions of where to look there? Sites, etc. I've read some about the environments where they locate in the Caribbean, but was wondering if anyone had any direct experience from Bonaire?
  7. I am selling an Olympus PT-EP14 UW Case for the Olympus OMD EM-1 MarkII $900 I will include the kitdive tray, shown in the picture, and the Olympus long arm PTSA-03, for free. Neither has been used. The case has been down about 24 times on a single trip to Palau (I'm upgrading). I am also selling an Olympus PPO-EP03 port for the Olympus 60mm f/2.8 macro. $350 I will include the Olympus PPZF-EP03 Focus ring for the Olympus 60mm f/2.8 lens for free. The port, like the case, has been down on 24 dives in Palau The port and case are in pristine condition and performed very well.
  8. BTW - here is an article where I found the thinkpad, as a reference. https://www.techradar.com/news/best-rugged-laptops Note that the prices are not accurate, they are for used versions. You can find articles on buying used toughbooks.
  9. I just bought a Lenovo. The reason I mention this is that I semi-turfed my Mac Airbook in a beach landing in Costa Rica. The crew semi-doused my computer bag, I know, should have carried it myself. The Airbook worked okay in the States, but every time I went to a tropical location, it would get cranky, often refusing to boot up. On my last trip it wouldn't boot at all, and the new battery, I just installed, quit working when I came back. Enough. I researched tough books, laptops that are hardened to resist water, dropping etc. The problem is that they are very expensive, for my budget, They start at $3,500 and go up, but they are essentially military grade. Lenovo has a compromise computer that is hardened, but not as much as the tough books. It can take a significant drop and some light water. So far I'm happy with it, but I'm not video editing. It is a thinkpad 11e.
  10. Question, can you use shutterfly to host pictures? Most of my photos are stored there and it would make things much easier for me if I didn't have to go learn flickr. I've looked a bit and will continue to search, but shutterfly does not have a good reputation for such things.
  11. I have been diving for twenty years with a large hiatus to have children. My children got certified this summer and I have taken up UW photography. We had Kid's Sea Camp train our children and their liaison generously spent time teaching me to shoot pictures UW.
