  3. I was there in April 2018 - on the Dolphin Dream liveaboard. I did like having my fisheye lens - used only when sitting next to the guy doing feeds. But the sharks were ON TOP of you then, so good opportunities. I also agree with keeping strobes wide to reduce backscatter. When not right up with the feeding, I used my 18-55mm zoom a lot...
  4. I always carry my UW gear with me. Never had a backpack weighed, although on a few occasions my carry on was weighed (only for international). I was able to step away and take out something then re-weigh. Ultimately, you can try to the response "airlines don't insure photography equipment in checked bags...". Be nice, patient, and you should be fine.
