  1. Great topic. I recently switched to the GH5 with a 14 - 42 f3.5-5.6 II ASPH lens in a Nauticam housing and am trying to figure out focus controls. 1. In MF setting, I cannot find a way to turn the focus ring. I have not been able to find a port with a manual focus gear for the lens. How is manual focus done for the GH5 with 14-42 lens? 2. In MF mode, one is supposed to be able to press the AF/AE button to force the camera to autofocus according to the following GH5 Q and A video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF7zmBnVEWE I have pressing the AF/AE button whilst in MF mode but I cannot get my camera to focus. On my camera, the AF/AE button (set to AF only) will only cause the camera to focus when in AFC mode. Thanks
  2. I know how to set the project resolution as well as the output resolution. I was wondering if there was any advantage to editing in 4k instead of 1080.
  3. My first video with the GH5. There are three or four clips shot with a GoPro Hero 7 mixed in. I did no have my WWW-1 with me and could really have used it on more than one occasion. Please feel free to critique. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krKOZOIAB9M&feature=youtu.be
  4. Hi everyone, I shoot in 4k and all my edited video is destined for 1080. Using Final Cut, is there any benefit to editing in 4k, or should I just edit in 1080? Many thanks
  5. Didn't realise that there was a 'like' button on this forum. Have since found it. I thought that I subscribed a couple of days ago. Will do so again.
  6. Many thanks. Keldan floats on order. Two segments it is.
  7. I weighed my system with the WWW-1 lens today and it came out at about 1.45 kg. I will be adding a bayonet adapter, which is on order, so the weight should be pretty similar to the SMC-1's 1.6kg. I also weighed my old system and it came out at 0.65kg negative. I quite like this weight as I can remain in horizontal trim whilst holding the camera out in front of me. So it looks like adding positive buoyancy anywhere between 1 kg and 1.6 kg should be good for me. Nearer 1.6 kg would be better as it will allow addition of things like snoots at a later stage. I can have one 0.67 kg float arm on both sides to give a total of 1.34 kg positive buoyancy, or I can have 2 x 0.32 kg float arms on both sides to give 1.28 kg positive buoyancy (less the additional pair of ball clamps). Right now I'm leaning towards the former, (one float arm on each side with total positive buoyancy of 1.34 kg) unless anyone knows of any reason why two float arms on each side should be preferred.
  8. Thanks everyone. I have asked for a quotation for the Keldan floats and will be purchasing them. Meanwhile I have purchased a luggage scale. I weighed the housing + SMC1 + single flip + 2 Keldan 4X's and it looks like I will need 1.6kg positive. It looks like I will be getting 2 x the 70 x 300 mm arms with a total of 1.34 kg lift. I did think that it was a pretty standard sort of rig and that someone would know. But the luggage scale does come in handy.
  9. Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how much positive buoyancy I should add to my rig which comprises: Nauticam GH5 housing Two Keldan 4X video lights (negative 0.4 kg in total) Lenses used will be WWL-1 with float collar or SMC-1 (but not both together). I'm thinking along the lines of getting two of the Nauticam 50 x 300 float arms which will give me a total of 640g positive buoyancy, but I'm really shooting in the dark. I'd appreciate your thoughts and guidance on this. Thanks
  10. Indeed it was a great trip and you are most welcome.
  11. Thanks. I received my new housing yesterday. Lots to learn about the new camera and housing. Indeed it all starts again.
  12. Thanks. Nine day trip, five diving days, nineteen dives.
  13. Please feel free to critique my latest video. It's probably the last video that I will do with my Sony RX100 Mk5a as I will soon have a system based on the GH5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6Bhl5IJVRE

  15. Thanks. I'll have a little think. May go the way of GH5.
  16. Thanks. I'll give manual focus a try. I'm looking to get a camera with a bigger sensor and am awaiting the GH6. I'll experiment with a wider lens then.
  17. Hi everyone, I'm using a Sony RX100VA set to autofocus in aperture priority at f5.6, and have issues with the video going out of focus whilst the camera hunts for focus. An example can be seen in the following short 23 second clip where the camera goes in and out of focus 7 or 8 times rendering the clip next to useless. I would appreciate your insights on settings to use. Thanks Autofocus issue

  20. Thanks. I could easily make the copyright notice stand out, but I intentionally tried to make it blend in. As you noted, purple does blend in with blue water. I initially experimented with different fonts. Just got bored with it and left it with the last font experiment. Does not bother me that it may be cheesy to some.
