  1. I just upgraded my system (found some good deals on this forum) so here are some deals for you. The big items are the Ikelite housing, DS 160 strobe and Tokina lens, all in great shape. Also, I have 2 Ike synch cords, the port for the 60mm macro Canon lens, port lens extension for the Tokina 10-17 and several ULCS adapters that fit Ikelite housings. See the list below for descriptions and sale prices. For those of you interested in making the leap to a DSLR, the 7D is a classic piece of gear designed for action and sports photography. Bodies can be found used or refurbed for $700 or less (check the Canon refurb shop at their website). If you have any questions about the sale items or need photos, feel free to post or PM me. All manuals and accessories are included. All items have less than 100 dives. No floods of housing or strobe and all have been transported and used with TLC. Paypal is my preferred method of payment. Shipping is not included and will be USPS or UPS (insured). US sales only. Thanks for your consideration. 2. Due to a change of travel plans over the next couple of years I'm not going to do much diving, so rather than have a Subal paperweight I'm going to sell all my U/W gear. I have a complete setup for the canon 7d, which has only done 20 dives, and is virtually mint. The housing is fitted with the GS 180 viewfinder from my previous housing, so this has been used a lot more, but is still 100% functional. New price for this combo would be £3800, I want £2600 plus postage IMG_9189 by Pooleypix, on Flickr IMG_9190 by Pooleypix, on Flickr I also have a dome post with extensions and zoom gear for the tokina 10-17mm, a flat port to fit a 60mm macro, 2 x inon z240's along with arms, clamps and sync cords, a 7d, tokina 10-17mm and 60mm macro, all in excellent condition. I will be selling all these items, so let me know what you want, but the housing must go first

  15. My underwater photography is headed in a new direction which means I have one kit too many. I am selling a turn-key Nauticam housing for the Canon 7D and all the trimmings. The kit is about a year old but I have only taken it on two trips. It is in like-new condition and truly is a complete package. Simply put your 7D and a lens in the housing and you’re ready to go! If you have done your homework, you already know that the nearly bullet-proof Nauticam housing and Canon 7D are a great and very popular combination. You can go to the manufacturer’s web site at http://www.nauticam.com/product.asp?id=48 for technical specs. I’ve added a few extras to the housing to make it a top-notch and versatile package - 180 degree straight viewfinder, moisture alarm, Nikonos bulkhead for Ikelite strobes. The housing also has two optical strobe connectors. I am providing an itemized list of the items in the kit and what I paid for them to show you how much money you can save. Everything pictured fits in the travel case although I usually only took two of the port covers when I traveled. Here’s what’s included: Nauticam NA-7D housing with standard viewfinder, handles, port cover, moisture alarm $3,200 Nauticam 180 degree straight viewfinder $1,150 Nauticam 8.5“ acrylic dome port with shade, neoprene cover, port cover $590 Nauticam macro port 94 for Canon 100mm IS, port cover $410 Nauticam zoom gear for Tokina 10-17mm $155 Nauticam zoom gear for Canon 10-17mm $175 Nauticam extension ring 20 with lock, port cover for Tokina 10-17mm $280 Nauticam extension ring 50 with lock, port cover for Canon 17-40mm $310 Nauticam single Nikonos 5-pin bulkhead $110 Two Ikelite sync cords (single Nikonos bulkhead to 2 Ike strobes) $320 Two Ikelite DS-160 substrobes with smart chargers, US & Euro plugs $1,800 Two Ultralight strobe arm kits (4 x 8” arms with associated clamps, connectors) $520 Pelican 1610 wheeled travel case with custom fitted foam $205 8 Stix jumbo strobe arm floats (not pictured, stows in dive bag, 3.2 lbs. of lift) $75 Owners manuals, blank warranty cards, extra o-rings, parts, grease, tools, etc. Total $9,300 In the interest of moving this quickly, I will knock off $2,000 and accept $7,300. I want to sell this as a complete kit so I am not interested in selling the pieces separately at this time. I will ship to US and Canadian addresses only. Buyer pays shipping. Please write with any questions you might have. I can provide additional photos if requested.

  18. Hey there I'm looking to purchase my first underwater housing and I've got a couple questions. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Nimar housing and what they think of it? I know many people have used the ikelite and it's fairly good for the price point, just a bit heavy and bulky. The Nimar is a little bit lighter, and a little cheaper too so my interest has been sparked. Techinically I do have the money to buy a machined aluminum housing but I feel like for the price point a polycarbonate housing is the way to go; especially until I can make some money with it. One of my friends let me shoot his D7000 around Malapascua island a bit and got me hooked but his ikelite housing wouldn't actually communicate with his YS-110a's, is there any reason for that? Finally, would TTL metering work with the Nimar with YS-110a strobes or others? Thanks, Shane
  19. Hello all, I'm an avid reader of this site but only a sporadic poster. However as I now feel that I have finally exhausted the potential of my trusted D70, I thought it would be best to ask for some advice before I upgrade. I would like to stick with Nikon and with DX format if possible to retain the use of the 10.5mm fisheye and also as I like the additional reach for topside work (I'm a marine biologist and do a lot of Photo ID work with cetaceans). This leaves me with 2 options as far as I can tell, the D300s or the D7000. I know this is a debate that's been done to death already so apologies for that. At first glance the D300s seemed the more attractive option to me, especially for my topside work given the faster AF and the more durable body (great against nasty salt spray and the like). However, after looking at dozens of underwater pics taken by both cameras, the D7000 seems to deliver better results. The D300s looks a little noisy to me, especially when dealing with sunballs and other wide angle work. The D7000 seems to have markedly better image quality in this respect. To be honest, the best pics i've seen in this regard from a crop sized sensor are from the Canon 7D! But I'd rather not jump ship at this juncture if possible. Am I being overly picky? And should I wait for whatever Nikon comes up with as a direct replacement for the D300s? Any help would be much appreciated Dom
