  1. Hey Guys, I am currently shooting with a 5D mkiii in Ikelite housing using the 5510.40 port and 8.5 inch dome with canon 16-35mm mkii lens which is required to be mounted after the camera is fastened within the housing due to the standard port being too small in diameter. My current issue is that with this method the Lens sits too far into the Dome and correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure that this is causing the Lack of sharpness mainly in the corners but i find that the image in general lacks a slight sharpness. So i am now looking at purchasing the wider Zen port which is optimised for the 16-35mm mkii and allows it to fit into the system properly. http://reefphoto.com...roducts_id=6516 Another thought was purchasing a +2 diopter to increase sharpness again. Does anyone have experience with this set up and the Zen port and if so did you find the lens sat properly within the dome and produced reasonable image sharpness? Also does anyone have experience or could lend any advice on the addition of a +2 diopter. Is it worth it? Any info would be much appreciated!

  4. Hello all, I was fortunate to get my hands on a 1dx mark II a few weeks ago, along with an underwater housing for it. Did a last minute trip to the Philippines to test this out. It is a short video, and I did a mix of macro and wide angle. I used the 100mm F2.8L and some shots with a +10 diopter on it. For Wide angle I used the 16-35mm F4L. Make sure to choose 4k on the playback options. Or Vimeo I severely underestimated what the move to 4k was going to bring. The amount of resources both from a speed and storage standpoint is massive. After 40 dives, I came back with about 3.5TB worth of data. Almost all of these shots were shot 4k and 60p, played back at 30p. Let me know what you think! Enjoy, Dustin

  6. Hey Guys, I came from the world of topside photography and since going under the surface with my gear i haven't looked back up! I am a PADI dive instructor working on Tioman Island, Malaysia. I shoot with canon 5d mkiii, ikelite housing. This was taken with my canon 16-35mm mkii lens and natural light (sunset time) Post production tweaks in lightroom. (exposure, lens disstortion, colour correct, detail) I like the image but i feel it's missing something or maybe has too much of something else. Which is a general feeling at the moment with a lot of my images. Any constructive criticism's would be much appreciated!
  7. I just got the Ikelite housing for the A7R II and was shocked to discover that this housing gives you a teeny-tiny view using the built-in eyepiece. Coming from the Ikelite housing for the Canon 5D II, I'd say this is a major downgrade as far as viewfinder use is concerned, which gives you about 60% to 70% view (compared with 90% to 95% on the Ikelite 5D II housing). It puts the A7R II's giant viewfinder to waste. It's a shame Ikelite doesn't mention this on their website. No, I don't plan to splurge another $1,000 on a viewfinder magnifier. The tray also doesn't have a lock, so be careful that the camera doesn't fall when opening the housing. You also can't switch from TTL to manual strobe control (and vice versa) underwater, which I've been able to do in my previous housing. You have to open the housing to flick the switch. Everything else is fine. But I had to highlight these negative points because the "professional" reviewers forgot to mention them. Unless there's something wrong with my housing. Is the built-on eyepiece really supposed to be that bad? Notice that I'm not comparing the housing with an Aquatica or Nauticam, but with an old Ikelite housing for the 5D II which really didn't look that bad.

  16. For sale is a brand new Hugyfot housing for the Canon 5d Mk iii, plus the FLP/K-6.606 Acrylic Flat Port. This system has only been taken out of the box so that I could photograph it. I won it, but I don't shoot with a Canon and am unable to use it. The system comes with the full warranty. Retail price for the housing is $3450USD, and the port is $240, for a total of $3690. 17. Hello everyone, I wanted to share my latest short film effort. I don't know about the rest of you, but whenever I am macro diving, I always have to take step back and think about how crazy looking and acting the animals are down there. To me, I think of Aliens! Have a look at my new film 'Stay With Us'. I am curious on feedback on the footage, concept, music, sound etc.. Let me know your thoughts. I hope you enjoy it. Dustin

  20. I am selling my Sea and Sea Canon 5D Mkii system as I am no longer diving. I will be selling the package as a whole and will not split items. This is a superb underwater camera set up that produces great results with both wide angle and macro. I dived with the Canon 16-35mm L Series zoom and the Canon L Series 100mm Macro lenses. I have dived over 150 times with this system without any problems at all – it has never been flooded. All of the kit is in perfect working order but does have minor scratches and scuff marks as you would expect after so many dives. The glass on the macro port and flat port is pristine. There are minor abrasions on the dome port , but they do not affect image quality at all. The 4 screws on the dome port were used to attach a 1kg weight. I found the housing floated on it’s back and needed the weight to bring the dome port to the horizontal when shooting wide angle. The system includes: MDX Housing 8 Inch Dome Port NX Extension NX Flat Port Nx Macro Port 50 NX Macro Port extension Zoom ring for Canon 16-35mm lens Reef Net swing arm adapter for attaching dioptres such as the Subsee +10 Double Synch cord Single Synch cord TTL converter (bought second hand – never used) O rings for all components plus at least one spare for each The system cost over GBP4000 new. I am selling it for 1500GBP. It is located in Abu Dhabi, but I will ship worldwide at a reasonable rate. I may also be able to bring the system to UK and ship from there. Please feel free to ask any questions or request more pictures. Kevinduell@gmail.com
