Hi, I'm a relative newbie, and very much a newbie with a strobe. Here is my setup: Canon G12 Canon WP-DC34 Underwater Housing BigEye WA Wet Lens (http://www.fantasea..../it.A/id.410/.f) One Sea & Sea YS-110a strobe iDas arms and clamps I have read a lot about strobe positioning but I don't seem to be getting it. Attached are some random snaps from a recent trip that illustrate a common issue I'm having. It seems as if the strobe is being reflected by the wide angle adapter and causing hotspots or flares of sorts. It doesn't happen on all the shots, but I experiment a lot with angles and can't consistently remember what position yields what result. I can often crop it out, but not always. And I'd really like to have a better sense of why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it. Thanks!

Not strictly underwater gear, but I'm interested in trading my Canon 17-40L (great for split levels and general underwater use) for a Sigma 85 1.4 (Canon mount). Would be willing to throw in a bit of cash if the 85 is in good shape. The 17-40 is in perfect working condition. A bit of dust has collected internally, but it's not on any of the elements and does not affect image quality in any way shape or form. The lens has always had a filter on it, and there are no scratches to the front/rear elements or the lens body. I can provide photos upon request. I recently upgraded to a 16-35L, and have little use for my 17-40 other than as a standard zoom on a backup APS-C camera, but I'd rather trade it than sell it outright.

Hello people, This is my second thread on this forum in six month. The first was to ask for help for my choice of underwater housing for my canon 5DmkII. You helped me to chose the Ikelite model. I use it in artificial waters (swimming pools) for portraits. My avatar is an ilustration of it made by my girflriend with a nikon coolpix AW100. my gallery can ben found here : https://plus.google.com/photos/107511759174870952997/albums/5703530631076161553 I work "well" with sun and natural lights in my pools, and that's really fun, but I would like to go up and control my own lights. I have two choices : continuous lights and triggered lights. About continuous lights, I have spots underwater (minimum control, white balance not easy) and spots out of water. That's the easy way. About triggered lights : I have nothing. Not underwater, not out of water. That's the hard way. My question : What can I use for triggering the slaves flashes ? I see two ways : 1 : remote triggering by wireless or cable signal. 2 : slave/master triggering with a main flash accorded to the ikelite housing. Point 2 is quite "easy" I suppose : All I have to buy is ikelite flashes with arms and use them as trigger. But I would like to consider point 1. The question, more specialy, is : is there a remote device or a cable device or something that I can adapt to the ikelite and has someone made it before me and could help me with those tricks ? I thank you in advance for your help and hope it is the right forum. I hesitate to post in the technical forum but I thought it was quite a newbie question...

Hi everyone. I'm looking for some advice on a possible camera upgrade. I am looking at purchasing a canon 5d mk3 but i would like to know what lenses people are using & what you find works & more importantly, what doesn't work. Both macro & wide. Is anyone using the canon 17-40mm & what macro lenses? I am leaning towards an ikelite housing. Is anyone using one of these? Even a 5d mk2 version? Any feedback on the housing would be greatly appreciated also. Thankyou. Cheers pete.

I upgraded my camera kit recently, and so I am selling my Canon A630 PowerShot & Canon WP-DC8 Housing (polycarbonate). Both are lightly used (on 3 trips since 2008), and in excellent condition, and I think I have priced them competitively (the housing alone actually sells for more -- runs about $125-$150 on eBay from what I could tell). I am selling both together for $180 (I have it on eBay with bids starting at $125) The camera takes great pictures (even has an underwater mode), I am only selling it because I have upgraded from a point-and-shot to an interchangeable lens camera. It is a light and easy to handle, great underwater if you want a "starter scuba" kit. I am throwing in rechargeable batteries and charger, and a 2GB memory card, and all the manuals, etc.... The link (to my eBay ad) is below. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email at metrodcbasil@me.com http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1555.l2649

I just can not justify owning such a spectacular UW photo package and not using it. Somehow I just don't have time for diving or UW photography so... Hoping to sell this gear as a package as much as possible. All of it was bought Feb 1, 2012 and there is less than 20 dives on the whole system. There are some very faint scratches on the outside on the dome port but they don't show up in pictures. Seriously, are there any plexiglass dome ports out there without slight scratches??? Here is what I have for sale: -Aquatica 5dmk2 Housing with dual Bulkheads & Aquaview - That's right - WITH AQUAVIEW!!! -8" Dome Shade -8" Acrylic Dome -Neoprene Cover for 8" Dome with Shade -Manual Focus Extension Ring (focus gear included) -Zoom Gear for EF16-35L -Extension to Port Lock -Sea & Sea YS110a Strobes -Sea & Sea Nikonos Style Sync Cord -ULCS New Style Clamps -ULCS 8" Double Ball Arms -TLC Ball Head Adapter for S&S Strobes -iTorch Video Pro 4 Video/Focus Light -1" Ball to Flat Plate -ULCS Long Style Clamp for Video Light -Ball with 1⁄4-20 Stud for mounting to housing -Protective Body Cap for Aquatica Housing -Protective Body Cap for Aquatica Housing -Rear Port Cover for Aquatica Housing -Maintenance Kit for Aquatica 5dmk2 Housing I originally paid $8,057.38 CAD plus tax for this package. Asking price - $5,500.00 CAD. This equipment is all located in Ontario Canada. Buyer pays shipping (and duty if required). Contact me with any questions you might have. Hola all. I am selling my Ikelite SLR Housing for the Canon 5D (#6871.05). I purchased the housing in hopes to put together a great underwater rig but my family has been hit with some financial strain and I was told I had to release my hold on this. Anyways I have never even used this housing and it's never been in the water, it's brand new but I do not have original box. I have all the paperwork, gears, and goodies that comes with it though. I am selling the housing for $1,000. A new housing retails for about $1600. I'll cover the shipping anywhere in the U.S. If you have any questions please let me know. I am bummed about selling this but my better half wins again. Holler and I can send pictures of the housing. Thanks for taking a look! J.C.

For sale, a like new Tokina 10-17mm fisheye lens for the canon system. It's been well cared for and only used on a few dives. This is perhaps the most popular and highest performing wide angle fisheye lens on the market for underwater photography. It's focusing distance is so close you can use it for WAM- Wide Angle Macro especiually when combined with a 20mm port extension and the popular Kenko 1.4 TC. I'm sellin to lighten the load on my SLR system. Most of my work is in super-macro so I don't need the lens anymore. Check my other listings for the ZEN DP-100-NT (Nauticam) dome and different focus gears that go with this lens, inclding both the standard 10-17 gear and the one for the 10-17 + Kenko 1.4TC. Costs $ $689 new at B&H. Less then a year old ans still under warranty. The card has not been filled out. Buy in like new condition and save on tax too. Will sell for $495 plus $15 shipping to anywhere in the US. Please cc mcolleypublic@gmail.com with your replies since I don't always get them for some reason. Will provide references and eBay account info if interested.100% eBay feedback for several years.

First of all, I have to put this disclaimer: This is still a hack of the Canon firmware and there's a possibility that you can damage your camera. Canon will NOT honor warranty on firmware fried cameras if using non-Canon firmware. SO CAVEAT EMPTOR and understand the risks. I first have been trying the latest version of Magic Lantern V2.3 on the 5D2 for a week before delivering it to its new owner and it has impressed me. All the features I wish I had on the 5D2 is now in this firmware, including the intervalometer, zebra, focus peaking and HDR mode. While the sensor performance doesn't even get close to the 5D3, it does certainly breath new life into the 5D2 (which is discontinued) and other Canon DSLR. Best of all, many of these new functions can be used in Photo mode as well, displaying it after the pic is taken. The one feature I most look forward to using is the intervalometer, which Nikon users have. There's an exposure ramping mode where the timelapse will correct for exposure without turning night into day due to metering issues and there're even sunset/rise modes. Here's an example: [vimeohd]44372899[/vimeohd] Another tool is the automatic HDR bracketing, which I'll just show the video below, what is possible: [vimeohd]36863089[/vimeohd] I didn't have too much time but I can't wait for the 5D3 firmware to be available. I may just go get a 60D just to start shooting! Remember, this is still a hack so understand the risks! Enjoy
