  3. Has anyone used this setup? It looks like a very elegant way to connect a fibre optic cable to the Ike housing, but I'm concerned that it wouldn't block all of the light from the camera's flash... Any comments? Chris

  5. I’m going through my equipment and am selling the following items. I am meticulous about how I care for my gear, these items have NEVER been flooded and always carefully rinsed and dried before storing. The housing was serviced and upgraded to a 4 lock port system in December. This is a fantastic way to upgrade from a point and shoot to a DSLR without breaking the bank. It creates top quality images, I had one image blown up and printed 5 feet x 3 feet for display at the local airport with stunning results. Housing 6812 for D200 (recently upgraded and serviced) 8” dome 5510.46 with 5510.22 extension and neo cover & zoom clamp Nikon D200 body Nikon 18-55mm VR Take it as a kit for $1400 plus shipping from Vancouver Island New this was over $3500!

I used this with my Canon 7D and that housing has already sold. I have upgraded to a Nauticam Housing and got new strobes and movie lights as separates so I can travel more. Here is what you get for the package price of $1650.00 (This includes shipping, insurance and PayPal fees) I can ship internationally but need to add an additional $75 for insurance, higher fees and packaging. Indivdually this system is $2360.00 2) #4061 Ikelite DS161 movie strobes w/ battery packs and diffusers (15 dives maybe and never flooded) ($950/ea) 1) #4066.1 Ikelite Smart Charger ($100) 2) #4086.61 Ikelite SA100 14" total length articulating strobe arms ($160/set) 1) #4103.51 Ikelite Digital TTL Housing-to-One DS Substrobe / Coiled cord ($50) 1) #4103.52 Ikelite Digital TTL Housing-to-Two DS Substrobes ($50) 2) Ikelite 1" ball Arm system base adapter ($25/ea) 2) Ikelite 1" ball Arm system strobe head adapter ($25/ea) I will entertain the idea of separating this if it is a reasonable request.
  8. A couple of updates to my website. Nikon D7000 underwater settings This is a page detailing all my settings used for Macro, Wide, Splits, and Video. It may be of use for new users. 9. Hey there I'm looking to purchase my first underwater housing and I've got a couple questions. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Nimar housing and what they think of it? I know many people have used the ikelite and it's fairly good for the price point, just a bit heavy and bulky. The Nimar is a little bit lighter, and a little cheaper too so my interest has been sparked. Techinically I do have the money to buy a machined aluminum housing but I feel like for the price point a polycarbonate housing is the way to go; especially until I can make some money with it. One of my friends let me shoot his D7000 around Malapascua island a bit and got me hooked but his ikelite housing wouldn't actually communicate with his YS-110a's, is there any reason for that? Finally, would TTL metering work with the Nimar with YS-110a strobes or others? Thanks, Shane
  10. eBay auction notice - this will be going on sale tonight at 10:30 EDT Edit - The auction is now live, and will end next Saturday night: http://www.ebay.com/itm/320949863323?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Up for sale is a Nikon D60 camera combined with an Ikelite housing. Let this DSLR setup move your underwater photography to a new level. The system is in great condition and the only reason that I'm selling it is that I upgraded to a newer Nikon and housing. The camera kit comes with everything that was originally provided by Nikon, even the original box. Major items include the D60 camera body, AF-S VR 18-55mm Nikon lens, two EN-EL9 batteries, charger, Nikon strap, USB cable, lens and body caps, owner's manuals, etc. A memory card is not included. This is a U.S. market camera kit that has 11,300 shutter actuations, and is rated for well over 100,000! The Ikelite submersible housing comes complete with two ports, a 6" dome port for wide-angle applications and a flat port for close-up use. Both ports will work with the included 18-55mm lens as well as some other Nikon lenses (see the application page on the Ikelite website for additional lens compatibilities). The dome port has a few very minor scratches (barely visible) and the flat port as a quite noticeable scratch on the front (see photo). When used underwater these scratches optically disappear and do not affect the image. The housing allows access to all camera controls, and lens zoom function. Electronics built into the housing allow TTL flash synchronization with Ikelite Substrobes. Note that a strobe and synch cord are not included in this sale. The housing was serviced 17 months ago by Ikelite, and though it is still perfectly functional, I recommend a service before next use. The following Ikelite parts are included: Housing for Nikon D40/D40x/D60 DSLR camera, #6804.1 6" Dome Port #5503.50 & neoprene port cover Flat Port #5502.41 & neoprene port cover Zoom Clamp #9059.8 and Zoom Sleeve #0073 Special Zoom Clamp/Sleeve #5509.28 I take very good care of my equipment and am confident that you will get many happy years of picture taking with this camera and housing. All this stuff will be up for auction on eBay starting at 10:30 EST. This is NO RESERVE, someone will get a great deal! This equipment cost over $2,400 when new - enjoy your savings.
  11. I'm selling 2 Ikelite strobe sync cords that I are just sitting here. Ikelite Digital TTL Housing-to-One DS Substrobe / Coiled cord #4103.51 brand new in box. Nikonos TTL - to - One Ikelite SubStrobe #4104.6, used on 5 dives. 75Euro each + shipping Cheers
  12. I have 2) DS161 strobes that I am selling as I will be doing more traveling and will be getting a smaller set of strobes. These are awesome strobes with the color and recycle times. The 500 lumen video lights are nice if your camera system shoots video. Price is firm at $850.00/ea, PayPal and shipping charges are included in cost. They sell for around $1200.00/ea online. Only been used maybe 15 times underwater. I only have 1 charger for both strobes. I would be willing to sell them both together for $1600/set but this price is firm as well. No arms are included. The do have ball mounts though so you would only need to acquire the arms. If I can find the arms I have, I will include them at no additional charge. Also please note, please advise if you need the single TTL cable or the dual. I have both, but will only send the one you need if you don't have another Ikelite strobe then you will have to use the single cable. Adding an additional strobe, I will include the dual cable with the single cable. Diffusers are included with each strobe. Photos to follow in the next few days. Mike
  13. I have a gently used Ikelite 7D housing, 8" dome and port adaptor for dome. I want to sell this as a complete set. Never had water inside. Always rinsed and dried thoroughly. Stored in a Pelican case. Ships in orignial box on the housing. Dome and Port will ship in a separate box. Approximately 1 year old and about 15 dives max. Upgrading to a Nauticam and don't need this. I will be posting DS161 strobes on a different post. Price of $1320.00 is firm which includes all PayPal fees and shipping charges. This would be over $2100.00 new, and this kit is ready for the water and in "like new" condition. Includes the following: Ikelite 6871.07 Underwater Housing for the Canon EOS 7D Camera Ikelite 5510.16 Port Body for 8 Dome Port Ikelite 5510.45 8 (inch) Dome Port Assembly Ikelite 5512.68 SLR-DC O-ring Kit Ikelite Assorted Replacement Control Tips for SLR Housings Mike
  14. When I go on dive trips, I tend to buy some gear, then sell it afterwards since I don't live anywhere that I can regularly dive / shoot. This works out better than renting, especially if I can find used gear to buy. I have sold here (full 7d Ikelite setup) as well as on ScubaBoard and POTN -- all under Iristyle. In December I took a quick trip to the Caribbean and housed my Lumix DMC-ZS7 pocket cam since I needed something really small and was OK with something a little less serious. I recently returned from a longer trip where I housed an Olympus E-PL3 for a few weeks, so was OK with something a bit bigger but with more functionality. At one point, I used my 7d, with DS-160 strobes. Since I know that I intend to resell afterwards, I try to take great care of the gear -- I'm particular about long rinses in freshwater after every salt exposure, etc. Some of the kit, I'm going to hold on to for next time, but some of the bigger ticket items I must part with for now. I'm getting everything listed now, and will provide pics later. All gear includes original materials, manuals, and is in excellent shape unless otherwise noted. Prices are for PP cash, add 3% if using PP credit. Shipping is included - my choice of USPS priority, USPS first class or FedEx. From Olympus setup - parts purchased in May from Bluewater Photo - used 2 weeks * 10Bar E-PL3-Z housing for Olympus E-PL3 with dome port for 14-42 lens - paid $940 - ask $890 http://www.bluewater...s-e-pl3-housing - Scott has a good video review there Somehow I managed to put a tiny surface scuff, about 3mm in length in the dome port -- probably from trying to get close to a nudibranch -- does not affect IQ. There are a couple of minor rubs on the outside of the dome, that again, do not affect performance. * 10Bar 67mm Adapter for Semi-dome - paid $48, ask $40 Clips onto the front of the dome and allows a 67mm wet lens to be snapped on or off * Bluewater Fiber cable from 10bar housing to Sea&Sea strobe - paid $50, ask $40 Does what it says ;0 From Lumix setup - parts purchased around Dec from Reef Photo, Amazon - used for 1 week * Panasonic DMW-MCTZ10 housing for Lumix TZ8, TZ10 (ZS7) - paid $230 + $95 for adapter - ask $280 Will sell only with the Deeproof M67 MCTZ10 adapter for 67mm wet lenses http://www.divervisi...e9h4aok6i6om0o0 The housing was used (but looked brand new) from Amazon, the adapter was new * Ulcs universal tray with two padded handles paid $90 used, ask $70 Was used when purchased. The tray has a taller handle, and a half-height handle -- worked well for me on both housings * Inon Cap W35 - paid $30, ask $20 This is what you need to get a regular fiber cable to attach to the DMW-MCTZ10 housing - includes the special plastic cap piece that screw locks into the housing, reflector stickers, stickers for dimming the camera strobe, etc Some older items that I didn't sell last time -- and forgot to relist! * Ikelite 100/240V smart charger with international plugs - paid $100, ask $85 http://www.adorama.c...2point0Product1 * Ikelite 4066.5 NiMh spare battery for DS-160, DS-125 - MSRP $165, ask $110 I got it used, but never had a problem * Ikelite 9571.3 - 1" ball for Ikelite release handle extender - paid $25, ask $20 http://www.bhphotovi...Extender_1.html When I sold the 7d setup, I sold off one of these, but not the other -- whoops. I have a couple of Sea&Sea strobes - YS-01 and YS-D1. I could be convinced to sell the YS-01, but only if it's going to go with one of the larger items. * Sea & Sea YS-01 strobe - bought back for Dec trip, ask $400 If I sold this, I would include the ULCS ballhead adapter for Sea&Sea (paid about $25) Pictures to come...
