  1. I have a Sony RX100 Mark II. I am looking at picking up a used housing for it. I know that as of the Mark V (or possibly IV) the camera casing was modified and older housings will nor work for the Mark V. My question is, will housings for the original RX100 work for an RX100 Mark II? If so, it that across the board for all of the manufacturers? If not, are there some manufacturers that it will work for? I have found a Nauticam RX-100 housing but the seller and I do not live in the same area, so I don't want to buy it without first confirming. Thanks
  2. Went down to Antarctica in March (7 days on the peninsula). We made it down past the polar circle to 66˚ 33’ 47.5’S and were able to dive under an iceberg in Crystal Sound where a friendly and curious crabeater seal chose to spend some time with us under the ice. A pretty magical experience. A few photos embedded here. 3. Due to a very unserious buyer, I'm unfortunately putting this back on the market. Please only contact me if you're serious about buying this unit. Because I'm decluttering a bit, I'll even throw in a free spare housing! I won't be selling this separately as I would much rather sell it as a package. It's priced to go. Here's what's included: Nauticam NA-RX100ii housing Sony RX100ii 4 x clamps iDas tray TR03 with pistolgrip ball 2x mount screws Inon UWL 100 ultra wideangle wetlens Inon UCL 100 close up wetlens Free Meikon RX100 spare housing Below are pictures of what's included: Here's the breakdown and price. Shipping is excluded. If you're able to get to the south of the UK, I'm happy to sell it in person P.S. High quality pictures are available, but I'm limited to 1MB in this post. Thanks, sinetwo
  4. Anyone using a Sony RX 100 version 1 out there I need some help. Is there a way to set the live view so that it will show a bright image underwater and NOT the image based on the settings? For example if I set it at 1/125, f/5.6 and ISO 100 and am in any reasonable depth of water the screen is so dark I can't see what I am focusing on! Likewise, if shooting macro, even in shallow (10') water with the camera set at 1/125, f/11+ and ISO of 100 it is again so dark that I can't focus. There has to be a way to fix this because I've seen some great shots from a RX100 version 1. Huge thanks for replies. Cheers! J Walker

  9. Hi all, I am selling my RX100ii due to a DSLR upgrade in the near future. This is a great compact setup and makes snooting quite easy. I'm happy to post my pictures if you need to see what I managed to get in Bunaken and Tulamben, but I'm still processing them! Safe to say, this camera is great for both wide and macro with the paired wet lenses. I can provide more (detailed) pictures if required, but the post is limiting me to ca 1MB. I am based in the south of the UK, but I am of course happy to ship this anywhere. Everything's in excellent condition and I'll provide original boxes where possible - it is priced to sell at £1250.

  11. I have an RX100 Mk1 and Nauticam housing for it. I'd like to get some Macro lenses and trying to figure out best options. So far I've narrowed down my plan to a dedicated +5-7 diopter lens and a more powerful +10-13 diopter lens, rather than stacking lower power lenses, because that seems to be a better approach. Given that, what lenses should I get? SAGA +5 and +10? Nauticam CMC-2 and CMC-1? Bluewater +7 and Kraken +12? SubSea +5 and +10? I have a Kraken wide angle lens (KRL-4) which I like (for the price), but I ultimately want to get whichever lens will be the best value for money. Ideally don't want to go too expensive on this (the Nauticam solution for example), unless I'm given solid reasons to do so. Thanks!
  12. I am in the process of upgrading to a different camera system. For sale is my barely used RX100 with Recsea housing. The following is offered for sale: Sony RX100 Mk1 with extra batteries $275.00 Recsea Housing $300.00 Sea&Sea YS-01 Strobes $250.00 each
  13. I'm very new to using an underwater strobe and don't really understand how a TTL system works using a fiber optic connection. I've been watching youtube videos explaining TTL in normal cameras connected via a hotshoe with an electronic connection and kind of understand that the camera fires a pre-flash to determine how much power it needs for the main flash. But how does this work with a simple optical trigger? If the camera uses its own pre-flash to trigger a pre-flash in the strobe and then provides corrects the main flash power, how is this information conveyed via the fiber optic from the camera to the strobe? To clarify, does the strobe vary its power according to the amount of light carried via the fiber optic cable? I have a Sony RX100M4 connected to an INON Z-240 (unfortunately there's no manual) via optic cable. Does anyone know if the RX100 uses a preflash when I use the fill flash? Should I put the Advanced Cancel Circuit Switch up or down on the Inon Z-240? Any help would be very appreciated.
  14. Hi all UW photographers out there, I want to buy a good compact, suitable housing and strobe/LED. To give you an idea about my UW photography experience: In the analog era I used to dive with a Minolta Alpha 8000i with (usually) a 100mm Macro lens in a Hugyfot housing, Subtronic 250Ws strobe w/built-in pilot lamp, plus a Nikonos V with 28 or 15mm lens mounted on top of the Hugyfot housing. With this setup I could shoot macro and wideangle on the same dive, which was really nice. Disadvantage of this setup was its bulk and weight. Particularly the huge and heavy Subtronic strobe was really difficult to handle when I had to fight currents, as I encountered them near Alor or some spots in the Andaman islands. So for the future I am looking for something much smaller and lighter, but with a similar level of versatility. Instead of one big and heavy strobes, I want to use 2 really small and lightweight ones. I have pretty much narrowed down my search to a Sony RX100 II*, but I am not sure what housing I should buy as there are so many. It should be - compact and lightweight - good for a diving depth of at least 60 meters, which I guess rules out the cheaper plastic housings - give me good control over the camera's settings - allow fiber optic connection of 2 UW strobes with TTL control - allow mounting of 2 strobe arms - allow mounting of wet lenses. I remember on a trip to Ambon I saw a guy with a housing who had 2 wet lenses mounted to the left and right of his port, one wide angle converter and one close-up lens. He could flip them in and out very quickly. This looked very useful to me. Do any of you out there know if any of the housings for the RX100 II offers such a mount option? * Or would you recommend another good compact? I chose the RX 100 II over the newer RX100 models because of its longer lens, 100 instead of the 70mm max offered by the newer versions.

  18. After spending 3 years in diving in Fiji it is time to move back home and be a land crab. I will not be diving often enough to justify keeping this nice setup any longer. Nauticam NA-RX100 (Mark I) Nauticam Flexitray with right handle and ball mounts Ikelite W20 Wideangle Wet lens Sony RX100 with OEM charger (MarkI) and Peli 1010 case The W20 was passed on to me from my wife and has some "waterspots" on the front lens element, nothing that shows up on the photos. Available for shipping in the US from August 5th or Sweden the following week. Or Fiji right now. 800 USD + Shipping
  19. I am selling my underwater photo equipment based on a Sony RX100 with a lot of accessories. The equipment is in a good condition and works without problems. I have used this equipment to take many great photos and - almost more importantly - superb videos. Since our second child will be born soon I will not be on diving holidays for some time and would therefore like to sell my equipment. It would be a pity having it just lying around. The exceptional thing about the equipment is the possibility to change lenses under water (called “wet lenses”). During a dive you can use the standard „flat“ port of the housing but still be able to change to macro or fish eye on the fly. This is ideal for holiday divers like myself since one usually does not do many specialized dives where one knows what kind of photos to expect in advance. Thanks to the strobe and the video light this set is perfectly suited for photos as well as videos. The Sony RX100 records videos with 1080p50 which means 50 full frames per second – thereby generating exceptionally nice and natural video images. Included is the following (I have also inserted the approximate current price for new equipment as a reference): Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 black (EUR 340,-) with second battery and external charger (EUR 55,-) Recsea Sony RX100 underwater housing (EUR 760,-) Video light: F.I.T. Pro Series LED 6500 Super Nova Video Light (EUR 990,-) Strobe: Sea & Sea YS-D1 Strobe (EUR 700,-) + fiber optic cable for triggering (EUR 40,-) UWL-04 Fisheye Lens (EUR 425,-) 2x Dyron +7 Diopter Macro Lens 77mm (each EUR 150,-) Tray with 2 handles (EUR 100,-) Nauticam double Lens Holder (EUR 100,-) 2x Triple Clamps, 4x Double Clamps (EUR 100,-) several necessary adapters (EUR 150,-) necessary buoyancy devices (ca. EUR 80,-) 2x double ball arms (EUR 60,-) Cetacea Quick-Release Cloth Coil Lanyard (EUR 30,-) Mounting possibility for separate (2nd) lamp (EUR 30,-) Replacement tray with 1 handle (EUR 40,-) The current price if buying this equipment new would thus be EUR 4.300,- Selling price : EUR 2.500,- I am based in Austria, Vienna and it is possible to inspect the equipment if you live close enough. Since I am selling this used equipment as a private seller I cannot give warranty of any kind.
  20. I am new to the underwater photography world (aside from GoPro's). I enjoy Macro shots and I am currently looking for a nice setup to start dedicating trips to underwater photography. I would prefer something that could be used on land as well. not too bulky. I have been interested in the Olympus E-M1 and the RX100 as they both fit my needs. obviously, the M1 has the ability to grow in the hobby a lot more than the RX. so that decision is based more on pricepoint. Would be looking for something within the next 2 months. Thank you for considering. Alex
