  5. Nice morning dive on our local wreck last Friday, noteworthy for the unusual (on this site) school of 20+ eagle rays that hung around for most the dive, rather than the video quality - though I must say I'm v happy with the RX100
  6. Hi everyone, Here is a selection of some of my keepers from a little Bali trip last week. All shot with Sony RX100 in Nauticam housing, UWL04, 2x INON S2000. 7. The Inon UFL-M150 ZM80 (Inon micro fish eye lens) does not work properly on my RX100 in Nauticam housing. I loved using this lens with my old S95, but upgraded to RX100. Anyone has any tips/ideas/knowledge? Cheers, Xander
  8. Here are some photos from the last months with the Sony RX100 in Nauticam housing, which are both great! Lenses used: FIX UWL-04 wide angle and double UCL-165 macro. 2x INON S2000 strobes. First ones are in Esperance, Western Australia. I rented gear to find my first Leafy Seadragon and was lucky in 'Lucky Bay'. Other ones are taken in the river/estuary in Perth, Western Australia; the Swan river. 9. What do you with your fish-eye wet lens when it is not in use but you want it with you on a dive? Where do you store it etc? I am trying to figure out some way of being able to carry one underwater, should the need arise such as when I go to Malapascua in August I will want to shoot the Threshers and then finish off with some super macro etc! I have done this for years with a WA and macro lenses but never with a fish-eye! Many thanks Simon
  10. [i posted this earlier in techniques and tips - I guess it should be here under video - apologies] Anyone had experience importing RX100 AVCHD Video into FCP 6.0.6? I don't think it can be done directly, especially as I'm still on a non Intel Quad and MacOS 10.5.8. I guess I will need a converter, but it my favorite - mpeg streamclip, using 1.9.2 - does not mention AVCHD in its help files. I don't actually have the RX100 in my eager hands at the moment, but am trying to prepare in advance. Any suggestions? Cheers, Nick
  11. Hi all, I would like to get a housing for RX100. Initially I was going to use my Sony HX30v because the housing for it is cheap but soon realize the wide angle port option could be a nightmare, so I decided to up my camera budget a bit to get the RX100 later . While researching housing for RX100 I came across the Nauticam. But found out Ikelite release the RX100 housing for half the price of Nauticam. My question is why choose Nauticam (non video version) over Ikelite? I know the Nauticam has half press shutter feature but that really doesn't justify a $500 difference! Also, I already have the Inon UFL-165AD. I have the AD to 67mm converter so would I have issue to use it on any of the housing (Ikelite have adapter to convert to 67mm mount for $50)? I invested $500 for the Inon wide angle port and don't want to get another wide angle lens. Besides, I think the UFL-165AD has the best optic quality, widest angle of view. Anyone have experience using the UFL-165AD on recent camera? I have been using the Inon port on my Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2000 which start out at 35mm and doesn't require zoom in. Any suggestion would be appreciated, thanks!
  12. Hi everyone, I just had the pleasure of spending a two weeks in Bali, and two weeks in Sumatra. Sumatra was mostly to see the jungle, but I also did some diving in Pulau Weh (or Sabang, )on the northern tip of Sumatra. Sony RX100 was used with Nauticam housing, 2x INON S2000, INON macro wet lenses and FIX UWL-04 wide angle lens. Here is a selection, you can see more at www.flickr.com/xanderwater Cheers, Xander Tulamben, Bali by Xander Rood, on Flickr Tulamben, Bali by Xander Rood, on Flickr Seraya, Bali by Xander Rood, on Flickr Tulamben, Bali by Xander Rood, on Flickr Tulamben, Bali by Xander Rood, on Flickr Tulamben, Bali by Xander Rood, on Flickr Lembongan Island, Indonesia by Xander Rood, on Flickr Pulau Weh, Sumatra by Xander Rood, on Flickr Pulau Weh, Sumatra by Xander Rood, on Flickr Pulau Weh, Sumatra by Xander Rood, on Flickr
  13. Can anyone tell me how you store and use custom memory settings on this camera? The manual does not go into detail about this and I am yet to find out anything via Google. I would like to set 2 of them up for macro and WA/Fisheye shots. Has anyone got any settings they use underwater, to make the best use of this cool compact camera? THanks
  14. I just ordered one, initially for topside use. Anyone had one underwater? What housing? How was it? I've just seen Eunjae's sample with the Nauticam.
  15. I just took possesion of my new RX100 and Nauticam housing. Boy, incredible the engineering advances in the last couple of years while I was looking the other way! Question: although I can adjust (and set) White Balance for stills on the RX100, I can't find anything about video WB. Certainly not in the menus or web searches. Has anyone found a way to set WB for video - or does it keep the still settings? Should I get a red filter for video (when not using lamps), or if I set WB (assuming it is possible) on a white/pink board will that suffice?
