i recently purchased an Olympus TG5 after using a TG1 since its release. I didn't have much time to play with it before our trip so pretty much stuck it in UW wide or UW macro. I use two Hi-max video lights which are very bright (so much so I mostly frighten the fish). Been sitting trying to thin out my videos and really wishing I'd spent some time on holiday looking at the files while we were there. Everything, including the shallow reef stuff is BLUE! Even in 5m of water, it's very blue and when I try to correct I end up with very flat "beige" footage. Here are a few examples: Octopus: shot with video lights, less than 15m and vectorscope of image as shot Fixed image and vectorscope: Turtle shot with video lights at less than 10m. LHS uncorrected; RHS corrected Corrected image and vectorscope: I think I know what has happened, I think my lazy use of the UW mode has pretty much cancelled out my video lights. Or the lights have confused the sensor. I'm not sure what WB mode is best for UW with lights, the old TG1 wasn't quite so sophisticated as the new camera. Any ideas on how to rescue the flat looking footage? Or what is the best setting for UW video with lights on a TG5? Thanks Sharon

Despite almost zero information within the Red colour channel, the R3D files from the Scarlet W still grade up nicely. Took about 12 nodes to get to this point but considering the starting point of this clip, it turned out reasonably well, especially given the conditions. Conditions were tough with maybe 5 metres vis, surgy and lots of floating particles. This shot was about 18 metres deep. Scarlet W, 5k 50fps, Nikon 16-35mm and 8 inch dome on the Gates Pro Action Housing. Graded in Davinci Resolve 14.

Hello All, When using our DSLR to capture video, are you typically using 1080p 30,50 or 60fps? Do you change it when shooting macro vs. WA? If so why? I know if you want to slow something down in Post production you should shoot at a higher FPS rate but is that the only reason? I am not shooting in 4K and don't plan to be anytime soon. I plan only to share things via the Web or output to a standard TV occasionally. Also are you manually white balancing every 10-12 feet or so or leaving it in auto? I'm shooting with a D7200, Kraken Video lights in a Nauticam housing. Just finding my footing with this setup and looking for what others are doing to help reduce the learning curve. Thanks, Hank

Hi everyone, I’m currently looking for two Keldan 4x or Keldan 8x lights. I would prefer a seller within Europe (due to customs duty) since I’m located in Austria. So, if you have a pair to sell, please let me know! Cheers Paul

I've always been a stills shooter underwater, but when I won a video light in a photo competition recently I thought what the heck, I'd make an attempt at shooting some video for a change. First thing I notice when I get the footage on my computer screen is that I seem to have some stuck pixels, particularly a decent-sized red spot near the middle of the frame. I guess these have always been mapped out with my images in Lightroom, so I never really knew they were there. Help! What can I do? It's awful, and completely ruins the video. I am shooting with a Canon 5D Mark II. It's a camera I've had for years (well out of warranty). Thank you Wetpixelites!

Keldan Video Lights in Excellent Condition They just over 2 years old and now have less than 20 dives on them. I recently used them on 6 dives in Indonesia for a Manta Video (last week) and now will no longer need them as they will not get used until late next year. So rather than storing them I am posting them here. The original batteries are still in excellent condition and hold a full charge so you still get the 55min- 2.5hr burn time. These are the modular version so you are able to update the video heads as Keldan releases new technology. Cost $4200 + new Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You can check the specs with Backscatter where they were originally purchased. Package comes with: Asking $2095 USD for - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Lights - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Batteries (Original Batteries) - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Ball Clamps - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Chargers ---- If you are interested in two spare batteries (bought one month ago and have been charged once) for a total of 4 batteries Package above (+) $700 USD = $2795 - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Batteries (used once - basically brand new - Paid $880 a month ago) ----- I have sold other items on Wetpixel here like an aquatic 5DMKIII housing and Flouro Diving Kit I will accept Paypal Only. ----

Hey everyone, I'm going on a week long live aboard trip in a week. I have a camera/housing, but no lights yet. Is there anywhere I can rent video lights (higher lumen, as I am shooting primarily wide angle)? They would need to be shipped because I live in Jacksonville or if I can pick up near the Orlando airport, that would work as well. Thanks in advance!

Recently purchased these off this forum and unfortunately they were misrepresented as I believed them to be the newest CRI model. If I shot mostly warm water the Flux would be just fine and would do an excellent job filling out the shadows. They 2.5 years old and now have 6 dives on them. I did a check on the batteries and they are still in excellent condition and the lights are in excellent condition too. I paid $2400 USD + $100 shipping for the lights two weeks ago and would be looking to get $2175 for these lights as I would prefer the CRI model for cold water. You can generally pick up a pair of these new or used for around $1350 - $1600 each. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I have validated all the specs with Backscatter where they were originally purchased. Looking for a quicker sale as I am heading on an extended trip on Alaska coast at the end of month and would like to get CRI versions for that trip. I will accept Paypal Only. Package comes with: - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Lights - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Batteries - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Ball Clamps - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Chargers I took them for a test dive and you can find the cold water footage here. The wide angle shots are these lights with auto white balance so they do render a very beautiful even beam and colour. The close up of the shrimp is focus light only and a test shot only. -

Hey Guys! I'm into underwater video (currently own a panasonic GX7), and im looking to buy a new lens but not quite sure what to get. Everyone seems to recommend either the olympus/panasonic 7-14mm lenses, or the olympus 9-18mm lens. Could anyone share some advice as to the difference in underwater videos (even stills) between the 7-14mm and 9-18mm lenses? Thanks in advance!

They only have 60 degrees of coverage, but I am wondering if anyone has purchased a set and used with a gopro or some other camera underwater. It appears they sell gel diffusers as well, so I'm look at them strictly for compactness / convenience / price http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1192935&gclid=CL6Ek8767s0CFUpZhgodMj8Jxg&Q=&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C92051677682%2C&is=REG&A=details Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated!

New to the boards AND to diving. As a professional freelance cinematographer and burgeoning diving enthusiast, I am asking the obvious question: should I expand my freelance services into underwater video? Anyone have any professional experience, advice, or info on this? I am wondering how crowded the field is for a freelancer, and how many jobs may actually be available? And, what sort of jobs they usually are (rec diving VS tech diving, etc.) It sounds like the GoPro has largely hurt this industry, but I am wondering if there is still much (or any) work left in it? I would not be relying on it as a career, rather an expansion of my own already existing services. Even $15k a year worth of gigs could be enough to justify involvement... but I am wondering if even that is feasible? This isn't an immediate thing for me - I know I am going to need a great deal more dive experience first until I would look into this. But when that time comes, I am wondering the process to get plugged into the industry and what I might expect, any steps I can take in the meantime to prepare (if it is even worthwhile)? Thank you!

Hi Folks, I am off to (hopefully) video giant mantas and I need some advice. I want my Canon 7D Mark 2 to follow focus as a manta swims closer. Previous attempts were not highly successful - I know there are several different focus modes in the submenus and wonder if any of you have any recommendations. Thanks.
