This video was shot an april morning in Kullaberg, Sweden at a place called Ablahamn. Recorded with Canon 7d and 60mm macro or Sigma 10-20mm lens in a hugyfot underwater housing. Only ambient light was used. I'm moving from my D300 to a D810. I have been using two Ikelite DS161M strobes. I would like to get some of your opinions on possibly switching to video lights (BigBlue 15000) capable of producing 1500 lumens up to 15000 lumens. I would like to shoot some video and my thought process was that using really good video lights would provide the necessary lighting to accomplish both. (I might be wrong) Please let me know your thoughts about this.

Hi all! I'm a documentary filmmaker who just wrapped up 6-months of shooting a documentary series on the invasive lionfish in the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean. As a filmmaker, I bought a nauticam housing for my Black Magic Pocket Cinema camera to be able to shoot in beautiful RAW with a flat picture profile. It takes some coloring once you're done, but the results are pretty great. I'm moving back away from the sea, so I won't have time to pursue my new underwater video passion for a few years. But this is an awesome setup (and small, light, and generally easy) for someone who is looking to really get into underwater filmmaking. DOME fits Panasonic 7-14mm lens and a few other lenses, I believe. Everything is in great condition. I rinsed each piece of equipment thoroughly after each dive and lubed up the O-Rings before almost every dive. The housing has never been flooded and comes with the electronic vacuum check. NOTE: You will need to replace the battery for the vacuum seal to work. They're cheap. A couple of small notes: - The nauticam doesn't line up perfectly with the record button, so you'll need to put a tiny bit of padding on the grip of the Black Magic (I use a bit of microfiber cloth folded twice) to line up the record button with the actual depressor. It works fine once you spend a few minutes getting it right. - The dome has a small buff on it. Not sure when or how it got smudged, but it doesn't show up in any of the underwater footage. If you're above water and pointing it against a blue sky, you can see it at the lenses widest angle (7mm), but zoom in at all and you can't see it anymore. Let me know if you have any questions. Has anyone on this board used a GoPro macro lens- Either the macro-mate or the polar? Usually I'm not a huge fan of the GoPros but it's what I have for a trip starting Monday and I'm curious if anyone has had decent macro results with one. -
Hello Underwater friends, I am selling my Sony EX1R video camera with 2 x SXS 16gb cards, card reader, 1 x BPU60, 1x BPU30 battery. The camera has 268 hours on it and is in excellent condition. There is only a small problem with a touchy profiles button on the rear control panel. This is a bit sticky. The Gates housing is also in excellent condition with DF1000 moisture alarm, top carry handle, side handles, trim weights, red filter and fitted with a port for the Gates pressure check system. It does not come with any front port as I will be upgrading my system and keeping the old one. The price for both is AUS$6500. If somebody really wants the SWP44 wide port, the external viewfinder or any other bits, I am open to negotiation. Both camera and housing have been well maintained and I have a bunch of spares and o-ring kits to go with. They were last used together in July 2014 for some news/documentary filming for the ABC. Comes securely packed in Pelican Cases. I am located in Australia and would prefer to sell locally.

hi folks, My old Sola 600 photo light is getting meaner and meaner with me. The charging contacts are extremely difficult to connect with, and after i charged for hours and left all indicators green, when i turned on the light it started blinking red!!! Too bad, so i am looking for another light, and it won't be a Sola. The recent announcements on wetpixel front page about several Fisheye FIX Neo light models caught my attention, in particular those two: -Fix Neo 1500 DX SWR: 599 USD -Fix Neo 1000 Mini WR: 299 USD Two very different price tags i know, but i am not sure yet how much i am ready to spend. Fix Neo 1000 Mini WR The cheaper one seems to match quite well the specs of my Sola 600, except: -the red light that is only 100 lumen (Sola had 250 lumen), i am thinking it's too low. If i were still shooting on Nikon D7000 OK, but this nice little Olympus OMD-EM5 doesn't have such a strong autofocus... -the ASO (auto shut-off) feature seems interesting, but i am not sure i like it: yes it would be nice to avoid the light's lighting to ruin strobe positioning efforts, but at the same time, this turns off the light for 1 second, i am wondering whether this would be annoying, i don't realize how long it seems in real life. Also, i am wondering how the battery holds between 2 charges (i usually dive once a week, and don't want to be re-charging the light each time). Fix Neo 1500 DX SWR Just looking at the specs, this light is a killer! It has all i need, plus the choice of keeping your light sealed while you charge (like the Sola) or to swap batteries for more flexibility... I am surprised it doesn't include the ASO feature, but since i am not sure i like it, that's not a deal breaker. So specs are great, but i have no clue on the usability of such a dive light: how easy is maintenance (when you swap battery), o-rings greasing each time? Feels safe or is it a single/scary exposed o-ring? What about manipulations underwater? And a question that applies to both lights: how reliable are the battery statuses? As you understood, this is the pain point on my current light, i cannot trust it at all. So i would really enjoy reading any experience you may have on those lights, or on other lights of that same range if they share similar designs. thanks Nicolas -
Despite being new to underwater photography / videography I rather ambitiously bought a duel set of Bersub video lights of fleabay that are powered by a hefty sized battery canister (dry weight 1.7kg, diameter 80mm, length 200mm). The umbilical cables are no the wet type so can not ('should not' is probably a better description) be removed underwater. I am using an S95 in an ikelite housing on a dual arm tray. As I see it have two options; Mount canister on the camera, under the tray Mount canister on myself, say on the waist strap Given the relative size of the the idea of mounting the canister under the camera is not very appealing to me. The canister will be negatively buoyant so I would have to think about buoyancy arms or floats to make it manageable. On the other hand if I hang the canister on me then ditching the thing in case of an emergency becomes harder, also I foresee kitting up and entries taking more thought. If I waist mount like a traditional battery canister I would need to undo the waist strap and loosen my whole diving harness to take the camera off. Even in non emergency situations it would be nice to detach the canister more easily if say I am handing the camera rig up someone in a rhib. Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. -
I have an OMD EM5 with Nauticam housing. only problem is there is enough light I cant white balance. which makes its super hard to get good video. It simply comes up with a screen that says something like, "cannot white balance." My question is, are all M4/3 cameras like this? does anyone have experience with the GH4 that they can share? Also, are DSLRS like the 5dMKIII any better? or can anyone recommend a camera that has this dialled?
