Hey there! Well that pretty much sums it up. I shoot the Olympus E-M1 in the Nauticam NA-EM1 housing and I'm trying to decide between these two wide angle options. I've always wanted a fisheye as I've usually shot the 9-18 mm Olympus up till now, but now I wonder if that new f/1.8 fisheye won't be too wide? I just don't have the experience using it but thinking back on my prior photography, I'm thinking wouldn't the 7-14 be a better all around option? My next trip will be a Bimini great hammerhead outing in January and I'm hoping to take one (though I certainly don't want to spend on both!) along with me. Clearly the dome port options will vary greatly (and be incompatible) between the fisheye and the rectilinear 7-14, but I'll likely stick with the glass Zen or Nauticam ones. More specifically, if I go with the fisheye, there seem to be both a smaller mini (Zen DP-100-N85) and larger dome port option (Zen DP-170-N85)....I wonder how they compare optically as I'm sure the smaller (? mini) dome would be perhaps more travel friendly. Any advice from folks shooting these 2 lenses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much. Bogdan -
Hello! i would be interested in the new 8mm pro Olympus lens to use with Nauticam and the E-M1. I bought the lens but it doesn't fit with my Zen DP-170 n85 II, the integrated extension is to long. Now i wonder if the lens is that much better for underwater use? Is it possible to use the f1,8 with results that are useable? Beforei buy the 20mm extension for the 4,33"and maybe also for a new to buy DP-170 n85 i want to know if it is worth it! Has somebody taken images unterwater with f1,8-2,5 and willin to show them? I am on the hunt for a 4k video solution and stranded at the RX100 mk IV. Decent IQ, modest pricing, cheap housings. First of: I am eying the Fantasea frx100 housing(s), does it have any significant drawback compared to Ikelite? Speaking of Fantasea, does the mk IV camera fit in the mk III housing? Fantasea offers a retrofitting service, can it be done at home? As for optics, I want the best. Does the WWL-1 have any serious (and somewhat lighter...) competitors in the wet wide lens department? -
Has anyone used the Subawider III corrector as an adapted wet lens on film/FF cameras? Apparently its sibling, the Subawider II provides great results on the AW-1.

Selling used but marked (see photos for damage) Nauticam N120 140mm Glass Dome Port with front neoprene cover and rear cover. Have purchased a replacement so do not need this one anymore. Perfectly suits Sigma 15mm FE with no distortion and super compact and lightweight for travel. Beautiful port except for the small ding which does show up as a small dark area which can obviously be fixed in post. Looking for $500 or nearest offer. Morning All, After a lot of reading on forum, researching on prices and generally delaying spending money I seem to have narrowed down my choice to two lenses: Tokina 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 Sigma 15mm F2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye I am leaning towards the Sigma as it is a prime and i gain a couple of f stops, I have a 50mm prime I use on land and I like how crisp the images are compared to 'normal' zoom. For reference I am currently using a Canon EOS (mirrorless) with a 22mm lens in a housing, but will be taking my DSLR underwater once I can save the funds for strobes then a housing. Cheers Andrew

Hello all, I am not new to underwater photo/video, but I am new to using a digital camera set up, and I'm looking for any advice on the camera focusing set up for a Sony NEX with the 16mm with the VLC-ECF1 fish eye adaptor lens, inside the Nauticam housing with dome port. When I used to film using a Sony PC5 miniDV camera in a Oceanhaus housing with 120deg wide angle port, I used to focus the camera to an object in the distance, leave the camera set to manual focus, and then once inside the housing with the wide angle port, everything from about 1ft / .3m to the distance was in focus. From my testing on land, this doesn't seem to be the case with the NEX camera. The autofocus works well, but I'm concerned in case the focus starts to come in and out when filming underwater, or even worse, focuses on port if I see something in the distance. I cannot find any focus gear for the 16mm lens. Is there some for the Nauticam housing Does anyone have any focus set up tips for this set up? Settings such as centre spot, multi spot, single shot or continuous autofocus etc, or has anyone found a good set up in manual mode? Will it work to focus manually ona distance object and get stuff in focus from 1m onwards? Any help would be great fully apretiated - I'm trying to fill gaps from old techniques to the digital world! I am planning to add a secondary camera - a modded gopro with a 100°FOV (narrower than stock) lens - to my gear. To avoid the flat port issues, I am seeking a wide converter - first to provide nice corner IQ then to restore FOV. Which wide converter shall I try? Inon has a gopro-specific unit (UFL-G140) but that is only available with SD-bayonet which seems to be impossible to mount on my 3rd party aluminium housing. Besides, the UFL-G140 is obviously designed for the stock lens, I don't know what it would do with a narrower one.

Hello everyone, Has anyone tried the Panasonic 8mm fisheye with the Olympus PT-EP10 housing? I have read that in order to use both the Zen (glass) and Precision (acrylic) dome ports we need a "small modification" to the housing. As I am a bit nervous about modifying the housing due to it becoming leak prone, I searched for different ports and ended up finding the following: - Athena OPD-F100-EP05: glass dome port that doesn't need any housing modification (has anyone actually tried it?) - Saga 1120 - glass 4" dome for Olympus PT housings: has anyone every tried these? I cannot find the information if this requires any modification to the housing or not. Any feedback or suggestion is more than welcome. Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers Nuno

I have this Tokina 10-17mm fish-eye lens for sale, it's only a few months old, and has had vey light use. The only signs of wear is a tiny scuff on the lens cap. I'm getting ready to purchase a pair of cameras for scientific video analysis of freshwater fish behavior. I've done as much reading as I can to put together a suitable system, and would appreciate the opinions of some professional underwater photographers about my plan and anything I might have overlooked. I'm going to use a stereo pair of video cameras, placed side-by-side on a crossbar on the bottom of a small, shallow, clear, freshwater stream, pointed at a drift-feeding fish (that is, a fish that maintains one semi-stationary position in the river and darts back and forth from there to intercept potential prey from the current). I need to be as close to the fish as possible, with the best sharpness possible, to resolve subtle details (for example, to see whether it "spit out" an item it just captured), yet I also need to have a wide enough view that almost all the fish's prey capture attempts are on-screen in both cameras. The fish will be anywhere from a few inches to ten feet from the cameras. I'll be using the video from the two cameras to make precise 3-D measurements of the fish's activity using software I wrote (http://www.vidsync.org), but I don't need feedback on the 3-D part of things, just maximizing image quality. To assure adequate camera placement and maximize recording quality, I need to run clean HDMI output from the cameras to external recorders, which I'll be observing from dry land up on the stream bank. I'll be setting the exposure/focus/etc and starting the recording manually, placing the cameras in the stream, and then watching the fish through the monitors on the bank to make sure the camera placement is good. One important difference between my requirements and those of most videographers is that I don't want the "cinematic" look -- I need every frame of the video to give the sharpest possible view of every detail, including moving objects (like the tiny drifting items the fish are pursuing). This means going for the fastest shutter speed I can (widest aperture and highest ISO) while maintaining adequate DoF for sharp focus throughout the virtual image and avoiding losing important details to high ISO noise. Artificial lighting is not possible, and I expect to work in a range of natural midday lighting on sunny/cloudy days or in moderate shade from trees. My plan is to use a pair of the following: Camera body: Nikon D5300 Lens: Samyang/Rokinon/other brands 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye for Nikon AE Second choice lens: Nikon AF DX 10.5mm f/2.8G ED Fisheye Housing: Ikelite #6801.53, with hole drilled for HDMI bulkhead Housing port: Zen Underwater DP-230 9" Superdome Housing port spacer: I don't know HDMI monitor/recorder: Atomos Ninja Blade HDMI bulkhead and cable: DiveAndSee It makes me nervous that Ken Rockwell's review of the Samyang/Rokinon lens says it can focus up to 12" from the image plane, which will hopefully allow it to focus on parts of the virtual image all the way up to the 9" dome, but I'm not sure. The Nikon lens could definitely focus close enough, but it's more expensive and based on reviews I've read seems like its projection and optical performance aren't quite as good. Also I assume it would have a very slightly narrower field of view and smaller depth of field given the longer focal length. Also, I don't know what kind of spacer (if any) will be needed to approximately align the nodal points of the dome and the lens. Does anyone have experience with this combination? I'd appreciate your thoughts on the likely performance of this system, things I might be overlooking, options that might be better, etc. Thanks in advance for any help! -
